Lucid dreaming - ever try it?

This seems like a cool mind hack. However, all the big boards and blogs on lucid dreaming are filled with people already into it, so it is hard to get the "average" opinion...

what do you think?

Well...I have experienced it numerous times. But the thing is, in the beginning, the moment I conciously became aware of the fact that it was a dream, I used to wake up.
Over the years I have gotten a little better at it. In my dreams, I usually fly (always had this since I was a little kid)...well not literally fly...it's more like really long leaps. But it is super exhilirating.
I know there are some techniques that you can use to improve this skill, but I really haven't looked into it.
If I practice more, I know I can get better. But yeah, lucid dreaming is supercool and the possibilities are endless once you accept the fact that you can't die.

Whatever you do, do it well. Do it so well that when people see you do it, they will want to come back and see you do it again and they will want to bring others and show them how well you do what you do.~ Walt Disney.

I've tried it a couple of times but I still don't understand the benefit of being able to glean anything from my dreams. Same thing happens with me as well when I realize I am dreaming, I wake up right away.

I'm some how good at it..But the bottom line is: Its not necessarily a movie inside your mind that you can control. Its an out of buddy experience where the level of conscience and lucidity varies a lot for a number of reasons. Just to make a long story short ;-)

The first few times are cool, but I've known some (including myself) who have gotten bored of it once they practice it enough. (Ex. Dreaming about a chocolate store then eating each thing purposefully knowing its a dream and you can't get fat or anything)

I've personally graduated myself to astral projection. That's where the real experience begins.

I've spontaneously done it quite a few times.

I have read much on it, but never "practiced" this. I have been debating it as well, because lets face it, we're all looking for the next exciting thing in our lives. Think it would be super fun lol.
