Today I'll review the 50th Law by Robert Greene and 50 Cent
The 50th law is a collaboration between the rapper Curtis Jackson (known as 50 cent) and Robert Greene. Robert Greene based this book of Curtis' life experiences along with his own historical research into power and success (which he covers in the book 48 laws of power). The book provides a very applicable and modern guide to rising to power in our time. In the book, we learn from Curtis' troubled childhood in the ghetto and his teenage years as a hustler. He eventually made it out by becoming a rapper and making his entrance into the music world. During each step of his arduous journey he had to use sharp street smarts to even survive. He was shot at with 9 bullets, which he narrowly somehow survived.
Curtis' main philosophy was fearlessness, which is a core concept of the book. Because of the brutal conditions he came from, 50 cent has no fear of death. The fact that he narrowly escaped death by bullets meant that he makes the most of his life. He's a risk taker, and a hustler. The book also focuses on psychology and understanding that other people's intentions can often conflict with yours. The 50th Law also focuses on historical examples to drive home many points. The whole book goes through the exact mindset 50 has, which is the mindset of a hustler who's not afraid of anything. I read this book in one day because of how enjoyable it was. It's also incredibly motivating. I prefer this to self help books because this is far more real, far more visceral, and much more interesting than most mainstream self help books. I've experienced a massive increase in productivity ever since reading this book.
