How to stay in the present and still not worry bout the future?

I have read so many times that being present is the ultimate key. However, every time I in the present, my mind wanders towards the future and what it will hold. The array of questions about the future place in a position of paralysis.

How do you stay present and not worry about the future? Isn't the future part of the present?

The present doesn't exist. Let's check it out; the present... just went. And again... gone. The only thing that exists is the past and the future. The moment with think about the present, it has already become the past.

The key to success is to not bring the past into the future. When we look into the future with the "history" of the past", that brings us limitation. When we look at the future with no elements of the past than anything is possible.

    Hope this helps you out.

      Got it?
That's a very neat perspective. Never thought of it that way.

In some sense the present doesn't exist but escapes in a very fast period of time.

We only control today of our life.

Here are my tips that apply in my life:

      Give best today from me.
Do things that I can do.
      Focus on my strategy.
Focus my energy on things that important in my life.
      Believe in myself and life.
Take action and persistence until get results.

So you don't think about things that not service for your life. That is your choose.

Staying in present can be really difficult at times, specially when you're multi tasking. I ordinarily keep reminding myself of the outcomes which I'll be getting after finishing my tasks

There is nothing wrong with spending time envisioning what your future holds. At that moment, pondering the future is your "now."

Remember, you are always "in the now." Thinking about the past, thinking about the future, are "now" moments. You can only be in the here and now.

But you talk about your mind wandering, as if you need to be engaged in a task and you drift off, or you want to be fully present in this moment, but you cannot because your mind/thoughts are somewhere else.

If this is the issue then the best thing you can do is to practice. Right now, right here, I am typing this response. I am concentrating on being totally engaged in this activity. I am actively putting my attention here.

When I walk my dog, I actively concentrate on being in that moment.

When I dream about the future, I actively try to dream about the future.

It is not easy at all. Our minds wander. Our attention drifts. It is part of our growth to learn how to focus our awareness.

One key that can be helpful is meditation. This does not have to be elaborate. It does not have to be mystical. Sit somewhere quiet and try to concentrate on your breath. Your mind will wander. Bring it back. Doing this for 10 minutes a day will work wonders.

      Good luck!

Though the present is just a fleeting moment and it soon becomes the past if you think about it it is the only time you have some relative control of you possess absolutely no control of the past nor your future Just Think About It.

I can recommend the book "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle.

A good amount of savings helps as well not worrying much about the future

i have a very long term sense of the future we are going into .. i had this sense long before the collapse in 2008 and had a long term struggle with despair because i did not know how i would cope or what i would do .. there was also the damage done to my body from the type of hard work i was doing at the time.. and of course the company i worked for closed down in dec 2009 .. so i was left with unemployment no marketable skill ..and physical problems no bad enough to be disabled but left me out of being able to do what i use to do ..and the forbodeing depression and feeling of worthleness that went along with it ..and the kinda waited for the world to collapse in total anarchy ..

    now ..

the future we are 5 years into what can be a 20 year economic transition ..the world is not going to end.. but if you try and live your life in the old model of finding a job and packing on degrees to get better jobs.. the future might end up sucking for you ..

I am here learning because the future will requir you to be able to adapt quicly and generate income from the web ..as there will be fewer and fewer jobs and many of them will be lower pay ..

the future will be composed of two groups .. those stuck in one place and dependent on the collapsing systems of the world.. or those who are training themselves to be ready and able to move where they can best survive and thrive ..and live on their terms ..

to many i look like the vision of failure and waste .. but i have been retraining my mind purging the negativty from my life and building the know how to survive in the world we are moving into..

it's all about hard work..but there are two kinds ..

are you doing hard work today .. that pays the bills but constanlt has you feeling behind and..gives you no reason to get out of bed and no joy in life ..

or are you doing hard work that entails that you spending most of your time working on your self and pushing yourself to get better.. to live better ..is the money you make a bonus ..and is it getting you out of bed in the morning ..and giving you a drive that makes your life rewarding ..and gives you happyness.

two futures ..1 is the path most people will be on for the next decade or so ..

2 is the path i am trying to get myself on .. i have had enough of path one ..and 2 + years out of work i have had more than enough relax time ..i have finally found that thing that i might be happy doing 12 hours a day every day ....

You can think about the future in terms of setting up some goals for yourself. In this way you know there is something out there waiting for you, and you can relax about what's coming and focus on today -- to get to those goals and also have some fun.
