I want to say something

i have to admit, though WF is the best IM website, it has become the playground for the self promoting, earnings inflating, rude guys and girls. I am not referring to anyone specifically, but any thread that is started by a newbie is either bashed or in most cases criticized.

I believe not all of us were created equally hence we can help one another wisely without bashing the next persons idea.

My point is, WF is not the same anymore, its filled with youngsters with nothing but o prowl the forum and make rude comments when newbies ask for help.
let me say something [ when you need help someone will tell you use the search button on the forum], though it is still somewhat easy to the techno savvy guys to a complete noob, this is difficult.
here is a simple analogy, if you are not willing to help, why not stay away from posting useless rude reply.

PS, i know my statement above is not coherent or somewhat lacks the integrity to state my point as English is not my first language, but i believe you get the point.

together we can make this place a better place for for all, divide we are idiots trying to look smart.

Some posts need to be criticized.

If a person can't take the time to search the forum why should we take the time to help them?

If a person can't take the time to look around and get a feel for the place, read the rules, etc. why should we take the time to help them?

You are right - it's basic manners. Don't come here with your hand out expecting to get, get, get. Come here with the thought of doing your part first and then you might get.

And finally if you've been here for 3-4 whole months you have no clue about the place. So don't go bashing the forum in a post complaining about the forum bashing newbies.

I think most of the regulars are very helpful, very patient, and go out of their way for free to help the newbies.

Was that critical? If so it wasn't meant to be but it is the truth.

Hey that was a very fair post in my opinion!

My mum taught me to "treat people like you, like to be treated". I work by that mandate everyday... BUT , in view of how life has changed, I have added on ..."if they don't treat you with respect, then treat them back badly"...

    ...works for me...

Anyway, back to your points... generally I would agree that WF is a fine establishment. There are people who do not do the place justice and regrettably their actions (the minority) seem to make more noise than the majority who do the great work. I guess that's life.

The point you make about being told to search for something is valid. As a newbie you are completely in the dark and need help. Conversely, for the person reading your post, they have seen the request many times over and thinks that you'll benefit by searching for that topic. In the early days, searching for a post thread means nothing to you!

Finally, i guess the culture of WF can be patchy. However, the majority are very helpful indeed... But it's up to the new people (like you) to reinforce the right way of doing things.

Remember the above points when you are on post count 509...just be nice!

    Llwyddiant!

Sometimes pointing out the flaws in a post is the most helpful thing to do for a newbie. Would it really be better to pat them on the back if we know, from experience, that what they have outlined will not work?

I don't advocate being rude, but much of the time what people call 'bashing' or 'rudeness' is just straight talk. If someone can't handle another person being direct and to-the-point, how on earth will they survive the business world?
