What were you doing a year ago?

If you have been building your IM business, and still feel as though you haven't been able to get anywhere with it, take a moment to think about what you were doing a year ago.

Has your knowledge increased?
Have you expanded your skills?
Have you helped others and/or helped yourself improve or learn from any mistakes?

If you can answer yes to these questions, then you are likely much further along than you think. You are probably that much closer to earning the income of your dreams.

In the last year I transitioned from standard web environments to mainstream mobile.

I have doubled my skills in the last year, even though I've been doing IM for over 7 years.

I learned that 10% of projects succeed, and that is still pretty profitable, so I engage failures as if they push me one step closer to my next success.

In the IM world so much can happen in a single year, and it only gets funner.

Great post. It's easy to look around and get discouraged that you ain't made a mil yet. But this business isn't the get rich quick like many think. When that happens, it is definitely an aberration. Just have to keep churning along, increase your knowledge base, and above all mean other like-minded people and form mutually satisfying business relationships.

On a more serious note though, a year ago were my first tentative steps into the world of Internet Marketing. Now I am a lot more established. Though everyday you learn something new so I'll never get to the day I will say I am 100%, though I'd like to feel like I'm getting closer everyday.

A year ago, I ran a job site for college students. The site is closed in 10 months because of the lack of applicants and traffic. I've learned so much from this failure. Surely, you learn more from your mistake than from your success.

I haven't be in a place where I want to be... But, I'm not in a place where I used to be

Well, and that is the point of this thread.

To remind you that while you may not be where you want to be, if you reflect on where you were a year ago, chances are you are a lot further along than you realize.

I was still a wee little baby in my writing career a year ago. If I remember correctly, I had landed my first few penny per word clients, and was getting close to making my first $500 online. I was pretty pumped. I was also part timing at Chipotle too. That's where my love of burritos began.

    What year lol.

Awesome Joe.... and so, my guess is either the part time gig at Chipotle is no longer... OR your love of burritos has grown so much that you've maintained your employment status for the discounts?

No, the burritos are not good enough to wake up at 7am to make. I just go have them prepared for me these days .

I year ago I was starting my own little business. Now, a year later, it has become my source of income. I hope that a year from now everything will be better for me and all that i will propose to become true.

Great stuff! The point of this thread is really great.
It's true that if your answer to those three questions are all "yes" i'm sure that you love your work as well as your business. That is the best thing that you should do to gain success in life.
