Hey ya'll

Just had a look at my subscriber sign up's today and found the above...

Am I being judgemental and unreasonable in wanting a real email address for passing over value, which the free gift was?

The truth is, is that this type of person never commits to purchase anyway...so who needs them on your list...not me! :p

Your thoughts?

Llwyddiant!

People have no idea if the list builder is going to actually provide value. Everyone says they have great content for their lists: true marketers and spammers alike. It's just part of the game. It may make you a bit angry, and feel like you're getting the short end of the stick, but that's just part of it.

Not worth losing any sleep over.

I agree with Joe. You're always going to have to put up with people using fake or secondary emails. You can weed out your list over time by removing people that never open your emails.

lol... I think it's funny somebody have this username! I think it's someone who is searching freebies or just inspiration to some of his own things.

Maybe you're right, maybe you're not. But I think you might turn him into a buyer, when you deliver valuable content to him. Then he simply forgets his username and takes action

Chances are good that this person gave you the "email" only for the free gift and only goes back to the email after he/she signs up for other free gifts. All the while everyone else this person previously signed up to be on others' lists is sending them email after email.

I don't think you are being unreasonable. I also would like for anyone receiving my emails to open them regularly, especially after I've given something away to this person that I should have charged for.

Just keep sending your emails to this address. If they never get opened from that address then remove 'em. They won't care one way or another and just keep sending your emails to those who do want to keep hearing from you.

I suggest that you ignore this kind of person. What ever their intention is I hope they can get the most out of it. At least you know that you are doing everything what you need to do...

From just the name it suggests that you don't need that type of email in your subscription list. Maybe if its a double opt-in.

At least it wasn't cuss words. I've had some really bad ones in my ecommerce store before, that were heavily implying things no one should ever have to hear.

I doubt any emails that would remove it from the list

Hmmm, I dont think you should delete it. Bcoz if your free gift really provided some value he'll definitely show interest in your mails. Either by checking out for further mails from u or by signing up again using his original email.
After all, giving free gifts only for the sake of building lists is not fair, If you had tried to add some value into the gift, definitely he'll come back. Don't worry

How much does having that e-mail address on your list cost you? If there isn't a cost per address or per e-mail then it shouldn't matter to you too much. If they ignore, fine. If it bounces, most mailing services will just remove it.

To be honest, you never know. Maybe it was a real guy who is paranoid when it comes to online activity and therefore uses that email to subscribe. Doesn't mean he won't read your emails or purchase something. For all you know, he could be highly responsive.

I'm saying that this is a possibility, so let's not rule out anything Joe.

This is just an element of the industry that you quite simply cannot avoid. It happens. Don't let it run your fun though! It pails in comparison to the amount of genuine e-mails you'll receive.

lol you know what email I use to subscribe to ppls list... okay this is a variation of it...

    poopfolder22@yahoo.com

You know what email address I read the most emails from... that one.

I have my fav marketers that I read everyone of there emails going to that address.

Don't discount it yet and always send your DL link in the email so they have to give you a real email address.

    Good luck!

Exactly, my point as well. I have a similar variation to the one above which I use to subscribe and occasionally read mails.

      Let's just roll with it...
