How do you celebrate your achievements?

How do you celebrate your achievements? Or do you take the time to celebrate? Are you constantly plowing through projects and tasks barely taking a breath in between or do you take a few minutes to pat yourself on the back or tell yourself good thoughts?

I do a happy dance to some of my favorite dance music. It gets the blood flowing through my body and that brings oxygen to my brain. I start thinking clearer and all those endorphins running through my system give me a feeling of power and control and I'm ready to get on to the next project.

What do you do??

I recently started doing something ANYTHING to celebrate the small achievements. Which is something that I NEVER use to do before. But now I will definitely start doing it. Relax for a day, go out, go to the beach go for a nice long walk are just some of the things I do.

That's great! I'm so glad others are recognizing the importance of celebrating an accomplishment - no matter how big or small! Walks, dancing, going out - anything that gets the endorphins moving will make the task or project that much easier to start!

I use the pomodoro technique which plays directly into this. You work on for 25 minutes then take a few minute break, then I'll do something more enjoyable. Rinse and repeat. Then when I get some large achievements done I do celebrate, go drinking, sailing, so on and so forth It's important I'd say to celebrate your success, keeps you grounded and gives me a perspective on the work I'm doing.

Totally agree! I know others who have used the Podomoro technique - I have adapted it to suit my needs - working in 30 minute segments and organizing my work so that a segment can be accomplished in 30 minutes.

For me every week that passes by is an achievement, that is why i see to it that me and family get to go out after going to church. Have lunch outside, sometimes just us, sometimes with family or friends. After lunch we will walk around the mall with the kids play with them in the arcade. There is nothing more i want than to celebrate it with my family...

I reward myself for good work by changing my routine for a day and pretending I'm not a workaholic. That can be going out to dinner, having a movie night, or just spending time reading a good book.

I like celebrating with my guy too! He tells me the smile on my face when I've accomplished something makes him smile.

I'm just smiling and thinking about the next step I need to take. If it's a great achievement I invite my girlfriend out for dinner

It depends upon the achievement, but has been known to include large amounts of alcohol

When I hit my daily goals I celebrate by doing something silly. it usually involves dancing. My husband always laughs at me for dancing while working in the kitchen at the end of the day. The kids love when I move my work station (ahem, coffee table) and we have a "dance party" in the living room.

Dancing with or without family is definitely one of the best ways to celebrate! Anything to get those endorphins going! I dance a lot because with my ADHD I need the constant reinforcement that things can get done!!!

Alcohol and/or food seems to be the #1 way to celebrate achievements for a lot of people. What else can we do that doesn't involve food or alcohol?
