Money Is Just One (convenient) Type of Value

Money is nothing but a way to touch value. If you give value, you will receive value. But, to enjoy life and not be a martyr, you must give value through something that you get value from as well.

So don't try to get money; try to give value. And you can only give value to people who want to do what you do (and so you show them and yourself how to do it better), or if both of you get something you want by doing different things, that you like to do, together.

P.S. You know the whole "You need money to make money" bit. No, that can just help you give value (and so get money) faster. But first you can make money without money.

P.P.S. And always enjoy it

Yes, you need money to make money but you can substitute money with hardwork and persistence to make money.

  • If you offer a value service then I assume money should follow in time. You may be happy just offering a value service to help others, if that's what keeps someone happy and satisfies them, then I don't see a problem with that.

Yes you really need to bring some value, to get attention and trust. If this is your main target the money will come to you automatically

I believe Jim Rohn said something along the lines of:
Provide value to the marketplace and the marketplace will take care of you.

You can make money with out money. There are a lot of ways to do that and we all know what we are talking about here. But with our chosen career sometimes or should i say we really need to invest to be able to earn more than what we invested. And i'm pretty sure that this has already been proven. But even if we earn from what we are doing we should never forget that we are also helping others with our services. As long as we are not hurting or doing something bad to others then we should not worry about the money that we are investing. We give value to our work and it everything else will follow.

Damn guys, it's amazing to read your additions to my philosophy. It's really helping flesh it out.

Here's some clarification I made for a friend who read this:

For the first: "And you can only give value to people who want to do what you do", I mean this:
If you have a skill, and someone else wants to learn it, you can give them value by teaching them that skill. They want to do what you do, so you teach them how.

For the second: "if both of you get something you want by doing different things, that you like to do, together." I mean this:
Let's say you know marketing, and someone else makes custom cars. You both want money, so you find him customers for his cars and he makes them. You both get something you want by doing different things, that you like to do, together.

So it's either giving someone valuable skills/knowledge, or a valuable service/tangible thing. Those are the only ways you can give value.

      What do you think?
