Think and Grow Rich - Chapter One - Desire

Many peoples in Warrior Forum have recommended "Think and Grow Rich". I just bought it last week, and I have read through chapter 1 - Desire.

In this chapter, we need to read out loud our desire twice a day, one in the morning and one in the night before you go to bed.

Did you all really do it everyday? And if you don't mind, please share your testimonials, many thanks.

Be Happy!

The practice of recital is a form of autosuggestion.

I believe the point behind the practice is to instill the feelings of belief in your ability to attain your Desire.

The important part is the feelings.

Reciting the script without mixing emotions is meaningless. The idea is to mix powerful, positive emotions with the words you're speaking to cultivate the faith that you can achieve your goal.

Edit: As for doing the written recital, I haven't. I simply developed techniques, that worked better for me, that achieved the same goal.

Interesting. I am new to this and maybe should add to my list of "reads" however seems from what you have said it all go back to your own mind and controlling your thoughts leading to those thoughts creating your future through manifestation. Good luck on the read! I'm going to check it out

I have used a similar technique, as explained in 'the secret' about 7 years ago in regards to a position that I really wanted and it worked.

However the emotion behind it at that time was very strong - I actually left a really good job and took a year off to try some ventures, which failed, and therefore the emotion to get employment within a good paying field was mega important - trying it again now and am trying to regain the same amount of emotion but this is difficult and Im not getting the results. Cant really quit my current job given the way the economy is at the moment, (mortgage payments etc) which would give me the same emotion to do something.

Which then brings me to the question.....how do you get the emotion needed for the desire, to move one in the right direction without throwing oneself over the precipice so to speak?

Also - how does one find out what they truly desire? I know it needs to have some specificity to it but if ones desire is to earn $100k per year through passive income, is that specific enough and how does belief in the ability to acheive this affect the emotion behind it?

Then how does one get the belief to achieve ones desire?

Umm - as Im writing this it occurs to me that doing the exercises as in the last 2 posts probably answers a lot of my questions.

    Thoughts?

I actually talk about this in my book, you might be interested in it (see sig).

I'll summarize some of it and it may answer both your questions.

In order to find out what one truly desires, one must be completely honest. You need to do some in-depth self-evaluation and figure out what it is you REALLY want out of life. The more honest you can be with yourself, the better.

You use the example of "Make 100k/year passive income" - look deeper at that answer. Why do you want that money? What will you do when you have it?

The answers to these questions can put you on the path to figuring out what it is you *truly* desire. For most people, money is just a tool that helps them do something else.

They don't *specifically* desire the money, itself. They desire what the money will allow them to do (this is their true desire). Ask yourself questions to delve deeper into what you truly desire.

      As for belief...

You can facilitate the belief that you will attain your goal through the use of autosuggestion and/or by setting goals that are believable in your current state of mind.

This "certainty of attainment" makes it much easier to start/produce/execute actions that will make your goal a reality and helps to stir the desire of wanting to see your goal accomplished.

      Hope that helps.

Thanks - that makes a lot of sense. So now will be the difficult task of digging deep to find out the what and why.

    Thanks for all the posts.....

Hi Robert, do you have any testimonials to share with us, especially something that you found it was amazing/miracle.....

Autosuggestion is on chapter 3, will read it as soon as possible, can't wait to finish the whole book

In "Secret", I also used the technique of law of attraction, it really helps when I'm looking for a parking space, every time when I'm going to a shopping mall, I will say "I'm lucky today, and I will get a parking space easily", and it works.....

It is easier to remember something when you say it eg when you meet someone new say his name after he introduces himself Then say it again after 1 hour then before you retire and tomorrow do the same thing. The trick is to get it from your short term memory to your long-term memory then you will never forget it.

    Yes i've done this.

Here is why it can help you and this is how it helped me.

You program your subconscious when you do this [ you will learn about auto-suggestion known as NLP - Neuro Linguistic Programming] in a later chapter.

But what happens in a nutshell, is that you will start dreaming about your goals and coming with out-of-the-ordinary solutions and ideas.

I've awoken in states before where my chest felt heavy with anticipation and mind so awake, alert, vivid, clear and objective it was almost frightening.

I have a notepad where I write down all of my ideas I dream about and implement into my business and life.

Pretty much every word you read in that book is spot on. I've read it once, and I often refer back to individual chapters for reminders and to rekindle the intellectual "awe" state.

He delivers in that book, and your head will spin as you read it.

To get to your main question: I have had the great privilege of experiencing huge success in my life financially, and I would recommend doing this technique. Because it has molded a significant part of my success.

    Morale: Do it!

yes I did, and as often as I can I still do.

This creates neural pathways in our brain, much like when an athlete performs their event by mental rehearsal, as we find it difficult to distinguish between vivid, active imagination and the real thing. so the theory goes that if you mentally rehearse these thinsg then your brain will see it as true... so you are a success, aren't you?

I was introduced to "Think and Grow Rich" at a down point in my life, while in college.
      That book and several others:
How to win Friends and Influence People
      Awaken the Giant Within
      Influence
(just to name a few favorites) lead me to the Dean's List.
Reading books like these is a major attitude adjustment.

    Hi Connie Lim

I read this book a long time ago. I have been amazed at how this book is so often refered and related to. It is almost becoming a go to guide for IM.

Theres thousands of books out there. This gets quoted more than any of them.

As long as it works though thats great

ha yeah,.....this is the most awesome book ever....I just started reading it again...

....yeah the whole idea is based on desire...not just that one chapter...

Remember the whole section on how Henry Ford wanted his v8 engine...? Nobody at the time thought it would ever be possible. His own engineers said to him it was impossible....and yet Ford told them to keep working on it....and they did..for like 2 years....until finally they discovered how to make a v8 engine.

Ford had desire. This is the secret.

But yeah....writing out your desire ..and posting it where you read it aloud....3 times a day...will drill it into your subconscious....where the magic happens.
