        ha yeah....think and grow rich...

was re-reading that again last night...it's funny how you pick up another detail that you forgot about from the last time you read. I love the story about Henry Ford and the v8 engine...classic.

And it was Carnegie that instructed Napoleon Hill to research the next 20 years ..and then write the book...Carnegie wanted his secrets about attaining vast wealth to be shared with everyone.

    The Mindbody Prescription.

It explains how to cure physical pain using the power of the mind. Does it work? YES.

Now I'm reading about NLP. The Mindbody Prescription, The Secret, The Answer, Think And Grow Rich, they're all basically covering the same ground. Only a select few of us know what the human mind is capable of!

These books changed my life. Not only am I much healthier, but I could pretty much retire tomorrow if I wanted to.

For me, it was the Bible, hands down.

Also, after having studied it and applied it's principles, have never looked back. Well, I do look back over the pages quite often, though.

"How To Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie was my first as well. What a great book.

Today I like to read biographies of successful people. I just started reading "Sam Walton: Made In America" an excellent book so far.

  • I read "You can Win" from Shiv Khera at the age of 16 and it made a huge impact on my mindset. My mind started to think big and i read many books after this one.

However, reading a book and making a real change in yourself are two different things. some people just read a book but don't bring the change in themselves. I read few PD books and tried my best to bring the change in myself.

Trying to remember actually! I've read so many in the field. I recall a book by Stuart Wilde called 'Affirmations' - I strongly recommend that.

Astrology (and associated books on the subject) was perhaps the first thing I recall that helped me start understanding and questioning myself and life as a young teenager. Whilst I don't associate myself or limit myself to that paradigm anymore, I recall it gave me a framework to start the self development process.

So it was a valuable tool for me.

Like Terra, I'd have to say that it was the Bible.

The second was "Think & Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill.

    I have re-read both books--and continue to.

The first Personal Development book that caught my attention was "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill, but the first one that truly inspired me was "Earl Nightingale's Greatest Discovery" by Earl Nightingale.

Think and Grow Rich was more technical, but Earl Nightingale's Greatest Discovery was more personal.

some really good books mentioned here.....

to those of you who said The Bible I will agree with what you said as it does play a big role in my entire life but I will like to use the words of Charlie Tremendous Jones who said

'the bible is not a book, it is the Word of God and no book is in that category'

My first book was "The Magic of Believing" by Claude Bristol, and the second one was "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. My last one was "The Emotion Code" by Dr. Bradley Nelson. These 3 books have shaped my mental makeup.

"How To Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie as well. Since then, I've read many, many more. Some of my favorites include:

    The Slight Edge
    Think and Grow Rich
    Hung by the Tongue
    Winning Is A Choice
    Attitude Is Everything
Hmm... I guess the list could go on and on. The key is to continue reading on a daily basis

Awesome books guys! For me it was the Slight Edge By Jeff Olsen. He put the philosophy of growing a business in such a simplistic way while explaining the power of motivation.

It was the book that got me started and from there have not stop reading!
