Dont Ever Think About The Money

Strange perhaps but whilst later on in your IM career setting financial targets may be a good thing to do, more for fun and challenge when you are first setting out i believe where most people go wrong is that they are in it purely for the money.Whilst I am not going to claim that none of us get into this business to make money , we also need to get deeply involved in the whole mantra of Internet Marketing.Sell and create products that help your audience, not just to make you money.Provide value, help and support to all of your customers.going over and above what they expect and guess what will happen. You will be rewarded with long term customers who will respect you and reward you. They will tell lots of their friends and all of a sudden you will gain more customers.

What i dislike and get frustrated with is when people publish poor quality material purely to make themselves money. This is a short term marketing mistake as it wont earn you money forever. So instead of money set yourself targets to assit , to help and to benefit all people whom you come into contact with and as if by magic you will be richly rewarded

Hope this inspires some of you and makes you think

I've thought a lot about this philosophy, and I have a slightly different take.

Look at how North Korea is able to support people and chance the world vs. China or the United States... the main difference? The two latter countries have money which can also be used to do a lot of good.

Walt Disney couldn't have built Disney World simply by following his passion; he needed BILLIONS of dollars (1960s billions) to do it.

What you need to remember is to make sure that your money is always going to making everyone's lives' better; from your employees to your customers to yourself.

The problem is most conglomerate corporations use money to get greedier and greedier for themselves, and to oppress, manipulate, and control the people at the bottom, but that's the people, not the money.

    I'd say:

Think about all the GOOD you will do to make everyone's lives better once you have the money; then you'll naturally want to create quality products, which you'll be able to because you have the money (look at Apple as a prime example of this)... they focused on profits and almost drove the company into the ground until Steve Jobs came back and turned the focus entirely onto the customer experience, and getting back to building great, innovative products, and a decade later they were named the world's most valuable company, and today are named the most valuable company in history.

Do it for the money, but ALWAYS put your passion first -- NEVER let the money BE your reason for doing anything... it's like that saying, "do what you love and the money will follow".

Good post Peter and Chrisnos. That is how it suppose to be, but in the real world it is not. Just like you pointed out, most people try to make money whatever way they can. It is " what is in it for me" world we are living. We should just do our due diligence in whatever deal we are getting into. There is always a predator waiting somewhere.

A lot of great posts here. I love it. Just to add to it.

IM is a highly rewarding business. Instead of looking to make money overnight, schemes and scams - one should set long term goals and work diligently and passionately towards it and enjoy the whole business process along the way, one shall reach both business and financial goals.

If done correctly this could replace one's full time job and at times make you a millionaire

I so agree with this. I hate poor content. So many sites and blogs these days, more new ones are being created everyday.... and all I can hope for are good contents. Money should not be the first thing in mind when you blog. Although you can earn by blogging, income will follow if content is good.

      Chrisnos ,

You make a great point but what i would say is that if you are purelyt focused on the money , especially as a new imer and then you dont get the instant success you have been promised, sold or imagined then you will become disillousioned very very quickly. So i guess my point was made on a much smaller level because i firmly believe that if you start the right way and with the right targets and focus then your chances of being successful are exponentially increased

That can be true, but if you truly believe in what you're doing, and you believe so strongly that you can change the world, you will NEVER become disillusioned, and will always resolve to face rejection until you get what you want.

For example, my website sells an eBook for $44, $150 coaching sessions, and a $229 audio course.

But, also, you'll find TONS of free advice on my website, emails that are 1,500+ words long, and are giving away tons of useful free advice; I get emails on a regular basis just about how much those newsletters have helped people.

I want to make money, but I also remember being a 12 year old kid in the situation I'm trying to help people avoid, because there was no one there to give me answers to what I needed, so I promised myself I was going to make sure NO ONE who wanted or needed my information missed out on it just because they didn't have money or a credit card.

It's all about passion, finding balance, and ALWAYS controlling the money; never letting need control you, but always letting your compassion and love for people be your guide... but I agree with you (and as Apple has proven by becoming world's most valuable company of all time), that if you follow whatever your passions are first, and focus on creating amazing products, that you will have far more success than if you simply try to do it for the money, =)

Some very good points here. Allow me to share my 2 cents!

A while ago all I thought about was making killer moeny online. Thats all I thought about was the money.

So I would go and set up campaigns having financial expectations ( which were unrealistic expectations ) and I believe that was the most dangerous thing I did towards myself.

The reason for that is simple.

I set ROI expectations for myself that were unrealistic and when I did'nt hit them, I thought that what I was doing did not work and would look for other things to earn me money.

I'm in this game to make money and help as many people as I can make money. But just remember to be realistic and not set ridiculous goals.
