Have Fun, Success Will Follow

If you aren't having fun with your business then you are in the wrong business. Let me be blunt about that before I spend more time on this.

I found this out the hard way after spending years of selling myself as someone that I am not. You don't want to do the same. Get this right in the beginning. Ask yourself the question - would I do this today if today was my last day on this planet? If the answer is "yes" then you are in the right business. If the answer is "no" then you need to move on and find something else to start.

If you are having a great time, the chances are your business will succeed. Why? Because you are bringing positive energy to your business every day, you are being innovative, you are inspiring the staff around you and you are building a business to flourish. You are having fun!

What is the alternative? You wake up and you feel like your business is a chore and you are just doing it to keep the cash flow going for your business or family. Well imagine you show up at your office and all your employees see the grumpy not happy boss in the office. What would that environment be? Well I don't want to dig into it too much. Simply put, you can count the days before this company shuts its doors.

Crack a joke. Smile at people. Be happy with your business. These things can go a long way.

For all those that may think why I am talking about a "business" in the WarriorForum. Well if you are not treating your online startups as a business, then you are not going to be successful. Start today by running your online startups as a separate business. Do up a business plan even if you are not going to use it. It will help guide you.

Good points. I've found that having a business plan really helps me think strategically and organise my efforts so that they pay off today and for many days to come in the future. For instance, i don't just write articles adhoc. Rather, i write with a view to someday converting those articles into a kindle single or free report etc.

    Hey Guru,

I agree, I started IM because I wanted to work for myself..

But for a while I got sooooo caught up in just "chasing the money"
that my life wasn't fun anymore and I had become more stressed than
    when I had a job..

I had also cut down the time I was spending out of the house,
    hanging out with my friends..

It was strange because I wanted freedom yet I had become
more trapped than when I was before I started out..

When I realized this I decided to do three things in my business:

    • Have regular "work hrs" with breaks where I get up and leave my computer..
    • Set a monthly budget and stick to it for buying "shiny new things"
    • And set daily and monthly goals for my IM..
I my social life I made it a point to spend at least 2 nights/week hanging out with friends..

Since I have been doing this, I have found I am more happy, and more productive online than I was when I was spending 14 hrs/day with my eyes glued to the screen..

    All the best..

Thanks for sharing this with the community. This is just a wonderful example of what I was getting at with my original post.

I think if everyone just take a moment to breathe some fresh air, set a monthly expense plan and stick to their core business, they will all do well and realize how easy it is to actually make money on the internet.

I can very well relate to that, especially on the first part. Right now I have been too obsessed of "chasing the money" and social life is dead. Thanks for those three things I will try my best to follow those and could get back with my social life that I once had.

Having fun in your business has always been my secret to success. It's always surprising how well it works.

    Hello,
I have to say I agree 100% with your post, I'm part of a web design business and I ENJOY my job. If I didn't, it would be such a chore to do my daily routine (find potential clients, respond to inquiries, come up with creative ideas to get our service out there). I think the reason we are doing nicely is because we both like our roles in this business. I hate to think about how many potential clients could be lost if I didn't pursue the leads with the enthusiasm that I have now.
