Was the Bible the first self-improvement book?

Many ideas which are represented in modern day self-improvement are illustrated clearly in the bible. A couple examples:

Matthew 21:22
"If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

Mark 11:24
"What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them."

These two quotes mirror, very closely, the ideas talked about in The Secret. They're actually in the book, itself.

Proverbs 23:7
"For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he..."

This is a dominant idea in many personal development works that state: "Our lives become what we think about most."

I find it very interesting that some of the core ideas of self-improvement and success (clarity of desire, belief, thought manifestation sculpts our lives.) are found in the Bible.

Was the Bible the first large scale self-improvement work?

Probably - but unfortunately wasn't well read at the time it was published.
King James tried a re run that was very popular in it's day.

No, I don't think so, I think the bible was the first "keep the minions in their place book"

I believe in My God, Please believe in Your God, and let others be free to choose their own God.

I'm not pushing religion in any shape, form or fashion with my post.

I'm simply asking if ideas, that are core to many self improvement works, were first mentioned by the Bible. Or, if there are earlier works that cite the same ideas.

If anything, the post is more about the origins of these ideas. It really has nothing to do with religion. The Bible just happens to be the oldest work I know that contains these ideas.
