You are what you think you are

Who do you think you are?

What is your self belief system made up of?

Do you think in a successful manner...

...or in a self defeatist manner?

When you feed your mind with information by way of thought patterns, do these serve your best interests or sabotage your self esteem?

If you want to be successful in life, if you want to be happy, satisfied, contented, enjoying good relationships with other people - it's important to recognize your true self worth.

When you recognize your true worth, you act in a manner congruent with who and what you believe yourself to be.

If you think negatively, criticize yourself too often internally, have low self esteem, feel a sense of hopelessness or that outside events beyond your control are controlling your life regardless of what you do, your own payoff or reward will not match those of someone capable of thinking about themselves much more positively.

A positive person puts the needs of other people first.

A positive person wants to help other people.

A positive individual looks after the interests of other people first before considering their own feelings. And in doing so, their personal self esteem, sense of worth and self respect goes through the roof.

If you think positively, if you invite and surround yourself with positive people who similarly have no time for negativity or bull crap the rewards in your conscious and unconscious mind will serve you well for a long time to come.

You are what you think you are.

If you think you're a writer, you will become a writer.

If you think you're a popular person, acting in a manner congruent with this self belief, you will become a popular person - liked and respected by many.

If you think you're a darn good housewife or husband, this is exactly what your personal family life will amount to.

If you think you'll make a wonderful success of your love life, no doubt this will happen, for we always act in a manner agreeable to our own belief system.

No matter what you think you are, this is what you will become by focusing on this aspect of your life.

If you think you'll one day become the next Donald Trump or Richard Branson, you'll act precisely in a manner which yields for you the same kind of results as the belief system you hold.

If you think in terms of failure, failure will surely follow you.

If you want to change who you think you are, change your thinking. Think of yourself differently.

When you live in the moment (as you do - we all do) you constantly have a choice of action...

To stay in your comfort zone, stuck in a rut where you are right now or to change your thinking and therefore your actions to propel you towards the life you want to lead.

So, who do you think you are?

What do you aspire to?

What are your dreams?

What are your goals?

What do you think about for the most part?

If you want change be the change you want.

You are your very own personal temple. Your temple is your heart and mind.

If you feel dis-ease with yourself, heal thyself. The change you want, the change you aspire to can only come from within - in the moment.

Stop! Think! Look! Listen!

Who ARE you?

What are you thinking about right now?

Are you criticizing this advice?

Are you resilient to it or do you accept it for what it is? Words which may just help you to help yourself to become... who you really need to be. What you want to be deep down inside.

If you want more - you'll do more.

What do you want?

What do you really want?

Think about it.

Smoking hot,

    A good point.

If you think you're a popular person, acting in a manner congruent with this self belief, you will become a popular person - liked and respected by many.
People tend to treat you in the way you believe they will treat you the second before you interact with them.

It's the same with all facets of life (as you mention in this post).

This is great stuff. I've seen some videos with Tony Robbins talking about this, and it's totally true.

Let's say you're overweight, and your mind believes that's who you really are. These are your standards and that's the way you'll always be. Whatever happens, even if you lose some weight, your mind will always find a way get you back to what you believe you are.

    Hope this makes sense...

    Hi Mark,

Really appreciate your effort and time to write such a long post. I believe if people really take the time and read this post and ask themselves these questions, they will gain something priceless out of it.

For me, I'm often think of building businesses, how to purchase more assets, how to live the life of my dream. I want to be totally in control of my life. I don't not want to live my life running around in a rat race, living other people's life.

but ironically, I've always been thinking about the people around me recently, thinking of how I'm able to help them, make life better for them. I believe that God has His plan for me and I'm slowly living it out. Slowly but surely.

That's what I believe. I'm here in this world for a reason.

I like that. It is best to tell our own story and not to let anyone else tell it to/for us!

I think our greatest barrier is our self-talk. We can be our own greatest enemy!

We've all heard the phrase "you are what you eat". The same principles applies to our thoughts. You are what you think you are. I would like to share a small and cute story which explains this beautifully.

There was bunch of tiny frogs. Who arranged running competition. The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower. You heard statement such as : "oh, WAY to difficult!!". "They will never make it to the top". The tiny frogs began collapsing. The crowd continued to yell,"its too difficult!! no one will make it". More tiny frogs got tired and gave up. But one continued higher and higher and higher...This one wouldn't give up! He was the only one who reached the top! All of the other tiny frogs wanted to know how this one manged to do it? A contestant asked how the tiny frog how he had found the strength to succeed and reach the goal ?

it turned out that the winner was DEAF!!

    Moral of the story:

Never listen to other people's tendencies to be negative or pessimistic. They take your most wonderful and precious dreams away from you--the ones you have in your heart!

Always think of the power words have. Everything you hear and read will effect your actions!

BE POSITIVE!! And above all, be "DEAF" When some one tells you you cannot do this task or fulfill your dreams. Always think, I can do this!

Because at the end of the day "you are what you think you are".

Beautifully put. A fantastic illustration. Love the story and the punchline. Spot on. Bingo! You got it.

Sometimes and on forums you get this very often... people will always seek to read something into your words which just isn't there.

You can have the best intention in the world, you want to help others, you love sharing good nuggets of advice or tidbits of info with others which you hope will have a positive impact in the mind of a few individuals. Hopefully many. If achieved - excellent!

This feedback gives a good feeling to the provider. Makes it all the more worthwhile sharing your knowledge, skills, and expertise with others and helps make it all the more enjoyable to do so.

Unfortunately some will always seek to find that one tiny flaw in your wording or in your reasoning. These kind of people, they don't look for reasons to praise you. What makes them feel good, sadly so, is calling someone out on the most spurious excuse to have a go at them. This makes them feel good somehow in themselves - go figure.

This is the 'noise' which one often has to put up with if you are like me a rather strongly opinionated person. If you write with conviction or passion, you'll always run into the armchair critics. People saying it can't be done. Who do you think you are? Don't be so stupid! Get your head out of the clouds and your feet on the ground.

What they're trying to do to justify their own inadequacies is to bring you down to their level. When they feel that they can do this, you now no longer represent a threat to them. You no longer remind themselves unconsciously that you're striving for a loftier goal out of their own reach.

My advice to anyone is to completely ignore these naysayers or turn their own argument inside out on themselves. Either block out the 'noise' or confront them, the opposing force with words of such commonsense you afford them no personal wriggle room.

Being deaf to some people is not always a bad thing. If you want to get ahead, they'll always be 80% of people trying to hold you back for whatever reason and 20% really egging you on, encouraging you all the way.

Pay attention to what this minority is telling you. If you believe you can do something, if you believe 100% in your own abilities - you go for it!

Too often in today's world there are social systems in place which intentionally or otherwise hold people back. Certain powers that be don't want too many people excelling at what they do best. They're afraid if this is allowed that this might just upset the applecart. So for the most part, most people are kept dumbed down, put in their place and told to expect this is life and to be satisfied with your lot.

Game changers sometimes then come along, very determined characters in their own right who can see the situation for it is. Can instantly understand both sides of the coin. Presented with the seemingly unassailable they just won't take no for an answer. No matter what is thrown at them, despite all the odds, they'll still follow their dream, break the mold, and follow through with massive action to achieve their life goal.

Thank you once again for such an inspiring post. The frog metaphor / story I thought was excellent and I thank you for it.

      To the top!

The famous philosopher, Bill Parcells once said "You are what your record says you are."

    If you are unhappy with your record and want to change your record, then you should change whatever is causing your record to be where it is, i.e. your results need to be improved;

As the above Warriors mentioned, mindset is one of the more powerful things in this world. It can help conquer almost anything.

We all are using the law of attraction every second in every thought in every decision. The most powerful thing mankind can do is control his mind to focus on a definite purpose with a burning desire that drives him to an obsession of manifesting that purpose into tangible results. We are what we collectively think.

I disagree with the title of this even though I agree with much of the content.
I've worked with clients over the years who 'thought' they were generous, open minded, hard working, good communicators, successful etc. but in actual fact their behaviours were in oposition to what/who they thought they were.
Lots of people think that they live with integrity but what they say they believe and how they act contradict.
This is why I don't believe that people are what they think they are.

I'd give that a resounding yes, and unless you think otherwise, you will remain stuck in that same thinking. What the mind conceives, the body achieves.
