Become a singletasker takes a lot of discipline. Like seriously a lot. I know everything in this article is true, but I'd go crazy trying to apply it. I have a very short attention span that can only be elongated by stress of a deadline (exams, hand-in date, etc) :p

Guilty! Many times throughout the week I multitask. Sometimes there is just no way around it. When I can focus on a single task, my productivity goes through the roof... Here's what pisses me off (rant coming).. I am focused... so when I am working I am knocking my list out. I work in a large open office area. When people around me have a conversation their work stops. When you have a conversation with me... I keep working! I just don't get people that can't walk and chew gum at the same time. Yes I own the company. You want to impress me... WORK! Motivate YOURSELF. Stay focus... Have FUN! But when it's time to work... GET YOUR ASS WORKING. Holy CRAP... If you can't work and talk at the say time then just don't talk!
Don't know why I just unloaded like that... But it felt good!! Have a Great Day!

I think there are pros and cons of multi tasking. I do them a lot and would sometimes end up not completing all the tasks that are assigned to me. I think you're right about having a to focus on one single task than doing it all at once. Makes it more faster and could help complete the task on time.

A good book to check out is called The Shallows by Nicolas Carr. It basically says that multitasking trains our brain to focus on smaller snippets of information and destroys our attention span. Interesting stuff, but not anything that can't be unlearned.

  • I am guilty of this! Focus is important ALL THE TIME when it comes to doing tasks. Thus, I am limiting myself of doing up to 2 tasks at a time only.

Totally guilty, sometimes I try to do more than 2, and most of the times I fail or slack them off. I usually do this due to bad time management. If someone interrupts my workflow I tend to try to make up for the time I lost by doing more things simultaneously.
