What is your true measure of success more money or contentment ?

Hi Fellow Warriors,
I have been in IM for a while but as days go by I always have this question, Is there such a time I will say I have made enough money and am now Happy?

I think it will never happen ...so I always want to be pleased no matter how small progress am making so long as am making some improvement to my current situation.

I always want to think that happiness begins by accepting where you are and embracing the fact that life is a long journey that has to start somewhere.

When I look at things this way I cultivate the inner peace needed to get things going ...
What do you think? Am I an escapist from reality ?

No, not unless it holds you back from action otherwise it is very powerful. I have recently found a calmness from accepting that the time is now and always will be... so live now not when you become 'successful'.

If you say something along the lines of "I will be successful when I own a Lamborghini" you are off to a bad start...

It should be the other way around: I am successful so lets aim towards a 'Lamborghini'. Start with your mentality, then go from there.

Jonathan Budd did this now he earns and feels success.

Money is a common outcome of any success. People runs behind success to achieve money.

I would consider success to be both money and contentment.

Contentment hands down is the winner IMO.

Mostly a winning mindset is something you attain before you make the money.
It's a choice, I only came to realize this in the last few years, especially since getting into Law of Attraction type stuff

Look at all the lottery winners, rarely does it end well!

Contentment, I hate that word, to me it sounds like you're just settling for what you have instead of aiming for what you want.

I would take happiness and gratitude over money hands down everytime.

I completely agree with this sentiment. I used the term contentment loosely! Certainly "happiness and gratitude" are far more accurate

Money isn't everything, and it actually degrades the quality of life and the things that really matter. Money can't by you those most important things, it can't buy you a family, or a cleaner atmosphere.

I'd say contentment of course. Most of us still look for more once they're already in their. It's as simple as setting your goals then reach for it, don't ask for more.

Self respect and happiness is more valuable than money I guess.

  • It really depends on the person. In my opinion, money is just on the second spot. Oftentimes, we say that a person is successful when he/she is gaining so much money. What is more fulfilling is to be happy in what you are doing. When we see money as the measurement of success, and we fail in gaining such, we will jump in the conclusion that we just fail real hard.
When success is measured by the amount of money we make, then we will not be fully satisfied and contented. But if we put contentment at the top, then no matter how small or big we gain, we will be thankful and we will be happy, and that is, in my opinion, the meaning of success.

Success doesn't come in an instant, just like Rome wasn't built in a day.
