How To Write An Article Under 10 Minutes?

Are you spending more than 30 minutes writing just one article? Now, I totally understand how you're feeling - After all, it took me one full hour just to write my first article. Boy that sucks big time. = (

Just a bit of my personal background here. I am no natural writer and I knew if I were to continue spending so much time just to write an article, I would NEVER make a decent income online.

I had to reinvent and over 1 year, I've developed a very simple system to allow anyone to write an article in less than 10 minutes.

And instead of selling as a WSO, you as a Warrior, get it for FREE!

But first...

What can you do when you can write an article under 10 minutes? Think about it for a moment...

Could you mass produce articles like I do (16 articles in 2 hours 15 mins) to drive you lots of traffic? You bet.

In article marketing, quantity outweighs quality. There's tons of discussion on this, but numbers play a significant part in your article marketing success. If you want to be making money soon, then you need to mass produce like an assembly line.

When you write that many articles, they only serve one purpose - to drive visitors. Forget about high quality; forget about being perfectly grammatically right all the time. High quality is over-rated. Take a look at Top View articles under any category, half of the articles have little or any good content, what makes them popular are their titles.

However, if you churn out such boring, mediocre content, you're not going to have trigger happy visitors clicking through your links... which brings us to the point on how you can write worthy content under 10 minutes.

Now, I'm going to assume that you have pretty good knowledge within the selected niche of yours. So what you need to do is to brainstorm and list down 10-15 ideas, tips, advice that will help your reader either solve that particular problem better or do XXX thing better. They should be pretty killer ideas since you're the expert. They can be simple ideas like "Be Confident" but you twist it to the angle of an Alpha Male Confidence. (Dating market example)

**It's IMPORTANT that you create this list of 10-15 ideas beforehand and be very familiar how these ideas work. You're going to be using this list of ideas very very often.

WHAT IF... you're totally clueless in that niche and still want to promote affiliate products?

Simple! Spend a few bucks and purchase those products. Read through them and find 10-15 ideas from them. (Note: This is purely research... find those ideas and understand how they work, and express them differently. Please do NOT plagiarize and get yourself into legal suicide.)

So once you have this list of 10-15 killer ideas, you're ready to move on.

Here's how YOU can write an article in less than 10 minutes!

Step 1 (This is crucial): Get a little pissed before you approach the keyboard. Many writers have problems with writer's block and eliminating distractions. The best way to overcome is to really get a little pissed. So whenever you need to write those articles, approach your computer in a little foul mood and start typing the *article titles immediately.

How to get into a foul mood? It was easy for me... I wasn't making enough money so that really pisses me off bad, real bad. Lolx. I'm sure you can think of creative ways to get pissed, don't you?

This might sound crazy but it is one of the most effective ways to get started instantly. When you're a little pissed, with a little fiery temper, you be more focused to get the job done quicker and even better.

Step 2: You need to have a STRUCTURE you can use for each article. Any good article is made up of several parts. There's the article title, the article body and the resource box. The key here is to break each article into even smaller, manageable chunks to speed up your writing.

Step 2a: How To Write An Irresistible Article Title:

The objective of your article title is to make it attractive and appealing so that people would actually want to click and read your article. There are several ways to do this effectively... you can be asking a question, for example, "Who Wants To Know The Secrets Of The Top 1% Forex Traders?"

Or you can tie your article to celebrities, for example, "Beyonce's Master Cleanse Secret: How She Became A Dreamgirl"

The goal here is to make it attractive and appealing to grab ATTENTION!

Step 2b: How To Quickly Do Up The Article Body:
Now, writing the article body is very simple once you break it into 5 parts.

Part 1: Introduction
Start off with questions related to your topic, use simple questions like "If you ever wanted to _________________________, then you _________________________." Just 2 -3 sentences will do.

Part 2: Tip #1
Now, provide useful tip, secret or advice in parts 2, 3 and 4. Use that list of 10-15 killer ideas that you brainstormed earlier! The idea here is to provide some value to your readers. By providing value, you build trust with your readers and they are more likely to buy what you have to recommend. Just keep it simple, you do not want to divulge everything here. Do the same for parts 3 and 4. Each tip should be 3-5 lines max.

Part 3: Tip #2

Part 4: Tip #3

Part 5: Conclusion
If you want to be more sales with your articles, always be recommending the product here. Mention about the author, his/her eBook or program. But never put any direct links in the article body for some directories don't allow that. Your reader can find the link to the product through your resource box.

There you have it - a simple to get you churning out articles like an assembly line in no time. Start writing 10-16 articles within 2 hours... or even better; beat me by writing more than 16 articles in 2 hours. Take action and see your income grow in no time.

OTHER KILLER TIPS

1. Use short, 'punchy' sentences to improve clarity of your writing. I've the disgusting habit of writing longwinded sentences which definitely affects clarity. If you've the same habit, just be conscious with what you're penning down and you can keep it short.

2. You don't really need to write 500 word long articles. Keep your articles short, between 300-350 words. Vary the number of tips you provide to either lengthen or shorten the article. By keeping your articles short and engaging with worthy content, you get visitors to click through your links better.

3. Give your articles maximum exposure by submitting beyond EzineArticles.com. This is overlooked by many article marketers, losing precious traffic, visitors and sales unnecessarily.

Really nice info on how to write killer article in less than 10 minutes. It is really true that you write an article based on the topic itself. And don't be pissed of if you can't write and article right away because writing an articles needs to well researched and well structured of good English. Although some articles don't have a good English structure but the important thing is you have given them an idea of what you are trying to say.

I've been writing for over 30 years of my life. It's basically how I earn my
living online. If I couldn't write, I'd probably be broke and I freely admit that.

I can now write an article on my niches in about 10 minutes. If I use DNS,
it's about 7 minutes. I actually don't like using it because I write
differently when I recite my articles. With my broken finger, I'm slowed
down a little now (I've figured out how to type without it) but can still
crank out an article in a little over 10 minutes.

If you can type 30 words per minute, which most IMers should be able to
        do after a while, that's 10 minutes for a 300 word article. I'm a little over
30 wpm and can churn out about 450 words in 10 minutes.

Assuming I can just type and not think.

And that's where I have just a slight problem with this thread, even
though the advice in itself is excellent. Great job on that Joel.

The problem is, some people really just can't type off the top of their
heads. It comes easy to some but not so easy to others. It's something
that only improves with time and practice and getting to know your niche
        better.

Point I'm trying to make is this.

If you've never written an article in your life before, don't expect to take
Joel's tips, plug them in, and first shot right out of the gate, write a 300
word article in 10 minutes. There are days when my brain is fried and I
have to actually think about what I'm doing where my articles take me
a little longer...not much...but a little. I think my longest articles, in time,
have been around 13 minutes because I had to stop for a few moments
and think about what I was going to say next.

Organization is key, but if you can't organize on the fly, you need to
allot some time for that part of the process. The more complicated topics
are going to take longer to write.

As for article quality, it all depends on your goal. But make no mistake
about it...you can't just churn out crap. Your articles MUST have some
value to them or readers won't make it down to your resource box. Plus,
you can't put people to sleep, which means you have to develop a
personality to your writing. That also doesn't come overnight.

I'd like to say you can use a pure cookie cutter approach like this to
writing articles and make a fortune doing it, but the truth is, you can't.
Because all things being equal, the article with personality, the article
that doesn't sound like it was spit out by a machine...that article is the
one that's going to get more views, more clicks and make more money.

There are people out there who write a lot more than I do.

They don't all make more money than I do.

        It isn't all about quantity.

You've gotta have something to say that matters.

          Hi Steven,

Great input from you as usual!

I've to agree with you that this might not be for everybody at the start.

While I've not been writing for that long period of time, I was "forced" from
young to write essays - things like "One day..." or "Once upon a time..." kind of stuff.
So they actually given me some background on writing.

One of the major factors why people can't write from the top of their heads is
likely to be the lack of information or knowledge in that particular area.
This is why I advocate brainstorming a list of 10-15 killer tips that can be used
for writing the article. This would allow you to churn out articles more rapidly.

Another reason I wrote this guide is to really show Warriors the possibility of
writing articles quickly. For many "newbie" Internet marketers, just entertaining
the idea of writing an article under 10 minutes blows them away. A recent student
of mine who expressed interest in article marketing complained when I asked
him to write 10 articles in 2 hours (he was taking 2 hours for an article).

In many cases, I seriously doubt it's not the lack of technique but an issue of
limiting belief. So hopefully this thread will help "newbie" marketers break any
possible limiting beliefs they have on article writing.

You might not be able to write under 10 minutes but I can guarantee you will
write way faster, 15 minutes max.

          You have a point.

But some people churn out that many articles not only
for the direct traffic but also, to get his main site ranked
for a certain hot short tail keyword.

Once you ranked and stabilized it, then you don't
have to write that many articles.

could n't agree more .you can just slap up something in 5 minutes and call it an article . people came to get answer and if they feel that you have just wasted their time or that your article did not help, they most likely WOULD NOT click on the link .so the ten minutes miracle , may not be that help

Quality is important Content is KIng and traffic is the missus .hehe

Steven (Waginheim above) and John Rhodes ( I think it was John correct me if I'm wrong Steven) wrote a product called How to Re-Write a PLR Article in Under 7 Minutes a couple of years ago and I still use some of those techniques on my own articles.

I write an article and then use some of the tricks from the book to re-write it.

Because I wrote the original article, the re-writes turns out to be pretty fast and this is a good way to crank out quite a few before tiring out.

p.s. I'm not getting anything for promoting Steven's book. I did purchase it and read it so I would recommend it based on being a customer.

I agree that you can write articles in droves if you already have a thorough base of knowledge about a topic. Especially if you're experienced as an article marketer and you have no spelling/grammar issues and you type pretty fast. But I have to add something that I believe is incredibly important here...

If you just sit down and crank 'em out, you'll get traffic from places like EZA. No doubt. But if you do just one simple thing before you start jamming on the writing, you will reap a much bigger reward over the long run. That is, build a good keyword list for the niche. Then write your articles around those keywords. You can still crank 'em out fast, but you need a foundation that will please the search engines and their users. And that foundation is using keywords that people actually search for at Google, Yahoo, etc.

I ran a test on this awhile ago. I sat down and just cranked out about 40 articles about a niche I know a lot about. I didn't do any kind of keyword research first. Just wrote and submitted. Took a couple days. Fingers were sore, mind was numb, but hey - 40 freakin' articles in 48 hours! I spaced out the submissions over about 10 days so the articles wouldn't crowd each other out by showing up all at once.

Results: I got a nifty little bump in traffic and some affiliate commissions. Not a bad return on the work. But it petered out pretty quickly.

Next, I took the time to build a longtail keyword list about that same niche. Took me about an hour to come up with a couple dozen decent longtails that get searched for at Google. Then I spent a couple more days writing more articles that were based on those keywords. Honestly, I couldn't muster up the energy and motivation to do 40 more. I did 18 this time. Again, I submitted them a few at a time instead of all at once.

Results: I got another nice bump in traffic from the directory. About what I expected based on the first 40 I'd submitted a few weeks before. But... I also started getting traffic from the search engines after about a week. And I'm still seeing a nice flow of visitors from those articles.

The difference was about an hour invested to build a good keyword list. I still wrote fast and cranked 'em out. But I took the time to do it the smart way. Newbies really need to grasp this about article marketing. Work smarter, not harder. Those 18 articles I wrote have now outgained the first 40 by a wide margin in terms of total traffic they've generated. It's not even close.

It's not really about quantity beating quality. It's about finding a way to do both.

While most of the advice is good, I'm sorry, but I have to question getting angry to write. Don't you think some of that anger gets filtered into your article, at least subtly? Secondly, I could agree with you on this strategy if it's for creating back links for search engine optimization purposes, but really, forget about quality? The higher quality your material the more people will click the link. A little extra time given to quality may pay more in link-clicking dividends than sheer quantity. I wouldn't want my name tacked to poorly written material, but I guess it boils down to what you are settling for quality-wise. Or...are you using an alias when you write?

One minor point...you said, "Use that list of 10-15 killer ideas that you brainstormed earlier!" However long it took you to brainstorm those ideas should be included in the time it takes to write the article. Without them, the article wouldn't be finished in that ten minute time frame.

For the lack of a better word, I said getting angry.
The idea is to get pissed off.

Most people associate pain with writing articles (at least I do), so I get pissed
by focusing on a greater pain (what if I don't write my articles today... can I
afford to pay my bills etc....)

Where I refer to quality, I tend to refer more to the way sentences are expressed.
I don't fussed over too much on that but deliver in terms of content. So in terms
of quality, it would be just good enough.

The list of 10-15 ideas can be easily done if you know your niche well. I assume
for most "newbie" marketers, they would go for something that they are passionate
about as advocate by most IM courses.

The time taken to brainstorm that list is ONLY a one time sunk cost. You can spend
1 hour doing it and you can use for days and weeks to come. I apologized for not
factoring this in earlier but since it's only a one time small cost, it shouldn't affect
the big picture in the long term.

This caught me off guard, too, but the more I think about it, anger can be a great motivator. Tony Robbins talks about Lee Iacocca getting furious at Ford and using that to drive him to make Chevrolet what it became.

Anger sharpens and focuses the senses and the mind a bit so you can concentrate. When I'm too light or depressed or all over the place it's hard to have the sense of urgency and OOMPH to knock something out "furiously."

But then again, there may be other ways to do the same thing, like doing jumping jacks for a minute while shouting "I'm going to kick so much ass today!!!"

Whatever it takes to get you in the right powerful, productive state. I'm going to create some kind of "power up" to use in the moment and may test anger along with visualizations or energy boosts or whatever.

From how I see it, I think those who like to use a bit of anger are people who actually know how to effectively use it for writing. It's like when you're one of those people who have mastered the finer points of heated debate on the internet (even though the subject itself can be just as petty as a certain scene in your favorite television show).

I for one find that when I argue against points that I find seriously stupid (to the point that it angers me), I end up writing a post that would fill two or more 500-word articles. XD

I can't write an article quickly so I cheat.

I have over 100,000 plr articles and simply do a search of my data base and then pick one and add my own content and rewrite. This only takes 10 minutes also. I use the same tactics as above but only have to add 25% of the content to make them customized.

You can get your own 100,000 articles here:

This is an excellent way to write quick. A lot of people turn their noses up at PLR but quality PLR (sadly that can't be written in 10 mins by the provider but that's not your problem ) can go a L-O-N-G way in helping you write super fast. Just pull out the article.

You can keep the basic structure the same of the PLR article (time saving tip #1). Keep what you like from the article and delete everything else (time saving tip #2). Now you have a skeleton. Re-write the skeleton. It really doesn't take long. (Time saving tip #3). You're more than half done and have spent maybe 10 mins (easily less).

Now do a little Googling on the topic. Find about 2 other resources and take some "meat" from them to put on the bones on your article. This can take 5-10 mins and you're done.

See....PLR to the rescue!!! The big "secret" is just to make sure you get high quality PLR to start with or you will be doing more re-writing and it will slow the process down too much.

Hi Joel, I have a quick question:

    You say:

WHAT IF... you're totally clueless in that niche and still want to promote affiliate products?

However, I have encountered an issue with this. I have gotten good ideas from the products that I am promoting and the biggest issue that I have with what you are suggesting is that the readers will take the tips I give them and not click through to view the product. By providing some value I believe that I have potentially lowered my CTR doing just what you are recommending. How would you suggest that I provide value while still enticing readers to look into the product? No offense, but without explaining how to get around this critical issue I believe that you are going to frustrate the warriors who apply this information in the near future. Thanks!

      Hi Charles,

      Great question.

The idea here is to leverage on the Zeigarnik effect to get people
      to click through.

Say I gave 3 killer tips for that article, I would use the Zeigarnik effect
for the 3rd tip to leave the reader wanting more.

For example, say I'm promoting the Master Cleanse (see my sig file).

      Killer Tip #3 - 3 Day Ease-In Menu
I'll start by stressing what the 3 day ease-in menu is about, not
found in the original Master Cleanser and how it can help anyone
make the Master Cleanse more doable...

What I wouldn't say are the recipes for the 3 day ease-in menu,
so if I like I would mention that they can find out the recipes
through my sig file or something... usually I would just recommend
that product I'm promoting in the next paragraph.

      Hope this clears your doubts.

      Joel

I don't think I can write an article in 7-10 minutes. If I'm familiar withe niche, it takes me 30 minutes on the average to produce a 400-500 word article. If it's a different topic, that's another story. I have to factor in research time and time to organize my thoughts. That said, churning one article (400-500) in an entirely unfamiliar topic takes me a minimum of hour to complete.

I prefer to spend one entire week researching, planning and then writing an article that: gets linked, attracts thousands of visitors and is viral than waste my time writing hundreds of those little articles that will attract very few people and worse, destroys my brand.

If you're doing a link bait, then it might make sense to spend a week. Otherwise, your plan of action is going to produce very little results.

I feel that you need to find a happy medium between quality and quantity. For me, I don't want to spend an enormous amount of time writing only one quality article. At the same time, I don't want to spend a bunch of time writing many crap articles either.

For me, it's about having a little of both.

Zeus is absolutely correct. Before spending a few days writing those articles spend some time building a keyword list. Remember, all this is just finding out what people want and by writing quality articles you are giving it to them.

Alright guys... what I strongly suggest is that you guys do a test...

Writing and submitting a few articles vs doing many (at least 10)

Do it for 7 days then see results in terms of traffic and sales.

While I can't guarantee you get more sales due to factors like
product selection, how you PREsell, you should see a traffic spike.

I can do (in a good mood, typing by hand) 300 word articles in about 3-4 minutes each. That has gotten me up to $14/hr with my current job. Where I live, the average that people make is $7-$9, so I use the $14 to rub in people's faces.

Thank you for the thing about short punchy sentences!!! My biggest problem is that I have a 'default sentence' I'll accidentally write that's about the same exact thing if I'm not paying attention.

Something else that can really either speed up your articles or slow them down if you have a bad program or don't know what you're doing with it: Windows 7 Speech Recognition. I got a $7 microphone and when I get too tired of typing or need to change pace, I just switch to that for awhile. It keeps the speed up and keeps my wrists happy and works just as well as hand writing it.

There is some great advice in there.

I'm not sure though that quantity trumps quality, mass article marketing is becoming less effective and article syndication seems a much more powerful strategy to employ.

Being able to write that fast also requires that you basically aren't doing any research, this will work for some topics but not for all.

The 'getting pissed' part actually does work in a way! If it didn't speed up my writing, it at least gave me something to start with. I remember arguing on another forum with this idiot (he was one of those preachy, conspiracy-theorist types who was ranting against advertising and other things people here might consider mainstream lead generation methods). The arguments I used to crush his actually gave me good topics to discuss. XD

It's easy to write articles about topics that you know. Of course, you might not need additional resources for those. But, how about if you got to write an article about the batteries that are used in cruises at all kinds. That would take really much time. Time allotment would vary with the topic.

Uhh interesting topic, I think there is definitely a lack of what is possible and what not! To write an article in 10 minutes is easy, if you know exactly what you are typing about! Sometimes it is possible to get more informations very quick! But sometimes its not. So I think 10 minutes are realistic with preparation!

      Good advice.

I noticed that the biggest hurdle was just being able to write. I think the mind trips us out about how to write well so that stifles progress.

I just started to write in the mornings beginning with creative writing about any subject and noticed that it gets the juices flowing then a couple of glasses yerba mate and a quick 5min cold shower and I'm rolling.

I think the idea of getting "pissed" is really to produce adrenaline, which in turn, gets you super focused and speeds up your thought processes.

However, when you attribute pissed with angry, you also can produce other brain chemicals that are not so good to your physiology.

I like the idea of producing adrenaline in a more positive way, such as one poster mentions, "do jumping jacks and tell yourself you are gonna kick ass today!"

Whatever works for you to get the adrenaline pumping and produce the same affect.

I find the tips on this article very helpful even though I do not quite agree with quantity beating quality. If you can work on both, then fantastic. If not, I'd rather stick with quality. Work on making quality content first and hone your skills. Then work on improving your writing speed and organization. For me it's just like making a choice between a long term solution and a quick fix.
