The Best Money Making....????

Lots of people come here and ask questions like...

"What's the best niche to make money with?"

"What's the best promotional strategy to use?"

What's the best <fill in the blank>?"

Let me show you why there is no such animal with an example.

Let's take promotional strategies since that's an area I feel qualified to
comment on.

As you know, there are many ways to promote your site online.

Which one is best?

A very good strategy is via safelist submissions, though 9 out of 10
people would tell you it's crap.

Guess what?

Under the wrong conditions...it IS crap.

For example, if you were to try to promote a non IM related (making money)
product through a safelist, you'd have no luck at all.

Why?

Because people who join safelists do so for one reason only...to sell
their business to others.

They're not interested in having their warts removed or buying the latest
World Of Warcraft tips manual.

Will some of those people have warts? Maybe. Will some of those people
play World Of Warcraft? Maybe, but for the most part, this audience isn't
targeted to those things. It's targeted to making money.

So while using safelists might be good if you're selling a make money
product, it's almost certainly a waste of time for anything else.

What about article writing?

As big a fan as I am of it, it's not for everybody.

What if you can't write? In that case, you have to outsource.

Well what if you find that you're paying $3 per article and each article,
on average, is only bringing you in $1 of income, no matter how many
articles you have written for you? In that case, article writing would not
be a viable promotional medium for your niche and/or product.

And as for the niches themselves, each one will behave differently for
each person depending on how much time they can put into it, how much
money they can put into it and what products (theirs or a merchant's)
they promote.

Otherwise, why do we see one person in the health niche make a killing
while another person can't get anywhere?

Ultimately, what's best is what's best for you.

The question is, how do we find this best for us?

Well, there are several things you can do but ultimately, it's going to come
down to testing.

Niches

If you're deciding you want to tackle a niche that has a super high
demand, regardless of how much competition (as this is what most people
believe is where the most money is) then at least do your research on
what the actual demand is.

Then, you have 2 options.

1. Find a product that is already selling very well in that niche (easy
enough to do by going to the Clickbank marketplace) and promote it.

2. Look to see how you can improve on that product and create it
yourself.

Promotional Strategies

In the case of promotional strategies, what I would do is look to see what
the most common ones are for that particular niche and product. For
example, some products lend themselves better to video ads than text
because the product is more visual. Other products work well with
articles because there are a lot of details that can be shared about the
niche and/or product and still leave out enough so that there is a reason
for the prospect to actually buy it.

Don't try to reinvent the wheel. If you see nobody using YouTube to
promote a certain product (and yet there are tons of people using
another method) then there is a good chance that videos just aren't going
to work. Sure, you can test it out if you like, but don't waste too much
time on it if you don't see results.

I could keep going with things like autoresponders and the like. Some
people say Aweber and some say GetResponse. Still others choose a
different company. What works for John Doe may not work for you. So
test your choice out. If you find it's not working for you, try something
else.

Too many people are looking for absolutes (just look at all the "what's the
best" threads) There are no absolutes. If there was, only one
autoresponder service would be in business.

Truth is, there are many options that will work...some just as good as
others.

Do you not think there are just as many millionaires in the health niche
as there are in the make money niche or visa versa?

It's not the niche.

It's not the strategy.

It's not the company.

It's what you do with it. It's using it the right way in the right situation.

    Right on Steve:

As Jay Abraham has said in the past... ( something to the effect of )

"Anyone can become a virtual marketing genius by simply testing and measuring responses"

Folks have to be willing to test with the attitude of a scientist, the different pieces of the successful online business puzzle to discover what works for them.

    Pull the trigger!

Thank you Steven for the great advice.

Yes, it is true that many marketers think that a niche that has a super high demand irrespective of its competition as the best way to make money. But entering a high demand niche and competing successfully with bigger players is not an easy task.

It would be of help if you could provide some tips on selecting niches outside the super high demand circle. Similarly, how to determine the most common promotional strategies for a particular niche or product.

I've recently watched an old-hat "niche" I don't market to but
I buy stuff from "splinter" - simultaneously from several sources.

I'm not sure if the splintering had happened before or if I
just became aware of it because I reached the point where I
was asking and focusing on the questions these new products
    attempt to answer...

But it shows how even in pretty saturated niches there is
room for creative, attentive marketers to spot an opportunity,
stick a prybar in the crack and leverage it wide open.

...and it hasn't ALL already been done.

Steve this is so immensely important and we need to continually preach the value of the message. The idea of neatly packaged "best" resources, business models, tactics, and so forth is an illusion!

It's ALL about the individual, his/her unique strengths, the effort and focus applied, and many other emergent and variable elements.

People want a quick and clean answer and frankly none exists. However an entire industry has been built on the notion of selling people these alleged answers.

The very nature of real success (growth, expansion, evolution, and so forth) demands a deep, personal exploration.

Yeah that is true. i guess you have to research what is the best method for you to use to promote a product. For me, it is blog commenting and building backlinks. For others, it is social networkign like Twitter and Facebook. it all depends on YOUR own personal style. Good post

A person could make money any place, but he should set his sight to do so. But first he should always ( not matter what's his market) choose his market well.
He could choose a market that he will spend 5 hrs a day and make $555 while in another if he spends the same he will be making $654.
