How do you motivate yourself

Hi guys

how are you all doing, I hope you are all good and in good health

Having your own business online is a really cool thing, but you have to be working hard at first to reap the rewards later

BUT my question is, when you don't have anyone to push you to work harder, also you will always get distracted, so my question is "How do you motivate yourself to do more?"

I motivate myself by ignoring all the negative influences. And also I just let positive influences coming out. And lastly I just hear music to ease my boredom.

Great words from all, I think you need to always keep the end goal in mind. In fact you need to know what that goal is. What do you want and why do you want it?

If you know the why the rest will follow. If for example you get down because things did not work out you can always remember the why. ie why are you doing this - and no it's not just about money, look deeper than that.

I actually have a free newsletter that i am producing so if you want more info just dm me as i'm not going to post it here unless others ask for it

I motivate myself by realizing when all is said and done...the only person on whom I can rely is *myself*. Not my friends, not my mentors, not my family (for IM, that is)...me.

After all, think about it - if you were thrown into the Pacific Ocean 10 miles from shore and saw the sharks starting to gather, I doubt you'd say, gee...I just don't FEEL like surviving.

Being successful online is similar. Only YOU can make it happen. Once that key is turned in your mind, it becomes much easier.

    Best of success,

    Barbara

    Thanks guys

I suppose my motivation is that I can be financially free and not be part of the group that goes to a job they hate

I have one important goal and that is to give my family a better way of life really, this is what keeps me going

What a great question: I use a success ritual everyday to position myself for the best possible mindset. It begins with 10-20 mins of meditation and then I read my success narrative-Written as if already accomplished and with much emotion and it takes in my professional and personal life. Exercise and then upbeat music as I shower and prepare for the day. When I arrive in front of my laptop I play a video I created that is a combination of my dream board and affirmations only 5 minutes long. After that ritual any challenges of the day simply roll off of my armor. :-)

When I get lazy and stop feeding my mind the proper food I absolutely see the difference in how I approach and manage the challenges of being solo.

Hope that is helpful. My mantra-- Create a Great Day, It is a Choice.

I love the questions and I love some of the answers, thank you everyone.

I was happy just reading through the replies but thought I would add 'being around others who are heading the same way'. Very useful when trying to keep up the momentum of a positive mindset. I love firstly knowing that there are others out there traveling the same journey as me .. secondly I love knowing that these guys can be accessed through forums such as this one, videos, podcasts, blogs and offline networking events etc etc .. this is were you can be topped up with energy and an 'if they can .. I can!' attitude.

Surround yourself with positive energy .. don't just rely on yours.

A lot of good ideas here. I always like to learn new ways to keep motivated because if I do the same thing for long, it becomes routine and loses it's effect on me.

Onr thing I do that helps, is I want to build my own home, so I have a big picture of my dream home on the wall in front of me at my computer.

I find that by having pictures of what I am trying to achieve keep me motivated. There are those around us who try to steal our dreams (goals, belief, wants or what every you want to call them) from you.
Having a picture on the wall in from of me while I am working, or on the refrigerator, keeps my eye on the target.

Don't let the dream stealers steal you dream!

This is a good strategy to light the fire under your tail. Engineer a Sink or Swim situation so failure (or delay) is not an option. Although, pro-creation is not for the faint of heart!

Create Deadlines. Create long term deadlines but also create mini deadlines and when you achieve a mini deadline, reward yourself.

Get a big Whiteboard (it's an office supply and tax deductible) and make a big Mind Map of getting from A. Where you are now and B. Where you want to get to (Your Goal) with all the steps and then as you accomplish things you get to wipe them off the Whiteboard until nothing's left but your goal and you will have achieved it!!!

Visuals are critical as well as structure and tracking movement.

You need to rethink how much you want "X" if you have to 'motivate yourself'. Let's say you were going to lose your home in one week, and become a homeless person, if you didn't make one sale. Would you have any trouble with motivation then? When we have a passion, motivation is no problem.

In order to motivate myself, I firstly go on to a different "make money online" most days before posting yet another article on my blog. For example, today I went onto John Chow and read his free e-book (which is very good for those of who have not read it.) He is just one of the people who can motivate you in a way he almost makes you do it yourself.:p So, I think you should go on sites like John Chow's that inspire you by making it clear, in order to get a good business going, be it a blog or other website, you have to be prepared to work hard so later you can reap in the benefits

I agree it is hard to keep motivated at times, and I truly believe that even the most successful marketers suffer from this. While it is great to look into the future and dream of all this money you will make, we have to realise that everything worthwhile takes time. Sometimes we make mistakes and make the wrong decision which puts us on a downer and we begin to doubt ourselves. We just have to pick ourselves up and move forward. Some people have a "to do" chart of the tasks they want to do weekly and monthly, and have a special goal to try to achieve by a certain time. One step at a time.

Whenever I'm on the peak of my exhaustion, what I normally do is just simply go back to where I started: my goals in life. Battling against the stress-frenzy days is undeniably one of the hardest things we need to do in our daily work mode, and we can't deny the ugly truth that there are really times that we seem to give up on all those obstacles, yet we just can't. So for me to be able to surpass these kind of circumstances, I just keep myself away from all those negative vibes and start to immerse myself into the things that primarily brought me into my present state as well as with past hurdles that I have already conquered. In this way, i get to have my self refreshed and recharged, thus sustaining my energy and firing up my passion towards my work every single day of the year.

The ones I go with really depend on the day but I am starting to realize that I need to be motivating myself every single day! Even if I already feel motivated. It just keeps me aligned with my goals and has be reaching success even sooner.

I have my simple tricks for this..

    1. I look into any legendary successful person who ever lived on earth. Such as : Thomas Alva Edison, Einstein, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, etc.

I learn HOW they can survive and get what they need. I believe, anything in this world has its own PATTERN. I learned their pattern of success, copy it, and keep going!

    2. Positioning my self like 'There is no tomorrow without success' or in other words I would say 'Do or Die'..

When you in the 'no turn back' position, your brain will work extremely powerful. Try it!

    3. Look into someone who You REALLY love.

Look into your family, your wive, children. What will happen to them IF you don't achieve what You really (need) to achieve.

"They deserve better living, and you (of course) deserve BETTER life.."

That's my tricks to motivate myself..

When I get tired and want to give up, I motivate myself with Stephen Covey's tip: "Begin with the end in mind" I just close my eyes think about what it will look like and feel like when I have reached my goal. It's a lot more productive than dwelling on "this is never gonna work!"
