Podcasting is awesome

For about 3 years now I've been dedicating myself to this online business of building websites, facebook pages, and am continuing to see even more success.

But during that time, one thing really caught my eye more than most.

Podcasting.

See... even though I loved it and thought it was really interesting, I never tried it out.

Recently I dedicated myself to learning everything I can about podcasting and it's really pushed me to use it everywhere I can.

But just because you can start a podcast, doesn't mean it's going to be successful.

The value is podcasting is consistency.

Think of it like a radio show or news broadcast in a sense.

No one wants to listen to someone that is all over the place, they want organization and want you to stay consistent with a schedule.

If anyone here on the Warrior Forum does start a podcast (which you can do easily with a $10 mic, audacity, libsyn, and iTunes combined) remember that the value is in how consistent you are.

Would you "subscribe" to someone who put out 1 piece of content and then never added anything else? Probably not.

But if someone puts out pieces of content every week or often/consistently you'd probably be MUCH more likely to subscribe to listen for more.

Thanks for "listening"... get it?

      Hi Justin,

I think that the key word for everything you want to succeed in is "consistency"

I definitely want to start podcasting in the near future...

Awesome thread...I've had an ever increasing addiction for podcasts and podcasting over the last 6 months or so as well.
Definitely something I plan on getting into within the next 3 months.
I agree, it's the people that podcast consistently and have some sort of game plan.
But like Danits said, consistency is the keyword for success in every endeavor.
This thread got me back on track...I was going to put up a blog post on my favorite podcasts. First thing in the morning for that one
Let us know - would love to check out your first podcasts!

          Hi Justin,

I've been on the fence with podcasting for a while. Really like the idea of it and am interested in giving it a go, but of course, there is always that "big new thing" barrier to get over.

What pushed you over the edge? Any specific moment or action or did you just finally decide "I want to try this" and realize it was awesome?

Interested to hear what knocked a fellow fence sitter over the edge.

          Thanks!

I just tried it out with my good friend Michael Brown and realized that it was worthwhile. I won't say it isn't a lot of work though But it's fun work.

Awesome, I can imagine the work involved. I did some editing for a client's podcast in GarageBand and it took some time - I figured it was a good sign that I had fun and wanted to do it again, though, haha.

      I did, LOL.

At first I thought it was just something to try out.. but now I'm addicted, but in a good way.

And to Danits, absolutely. Consistency is where everything ties in. It's going to take us a while to get the episodes out, but if we stay consistent and continue to push more and more great content, we'll be set.

I think podcast will be even more hot this year. Pat Flynn from Smart Passive Income also talked about that and he will create one every week. He mentioned that the most traffic and people who heard for his blog was through his podcasts.

Yea Pat Flynn is big reason I personally got into it and I feel it's a big opportunity for all of us as marketers. I know podcasting has been around for a while now but the advantage of having people listen in a car is huge.

Hardest thing is consistently, I've been trying to do one myself but without a "co-host".. it is a bit difficult, I reckon it will be a lot easier to have someone else to bounce to.

I'd really like to hear other Warriors though! Especially those starting out because it will help me get my first one out

When you say "you don't want to be all over the place" do you mean with consistency or on topics? I have read warnings about not podcasting about different topics because you could confuse people. Personally, I think of the Discovery Channel and I love how there are different topics through a 'science lens.' I think it is interesting but do you think podcast listeners would get confused?

Do you have any thoughts on that?

      Great post!

I want to set up a weekly radio show.

Why is podcasting different from say..just recording the audio adding a few jingles etc and pasting a link to the file on the website?

Sorry if this is a really basic question. I listen to the IBD radio show and love its format and want to create something similar.

I am happy to pay for good training on this as I want to get it right

Very grateful for any advice on this.
