What Are YOUR Habits and How Do They Effect You?

I just finished a book about habits, both good and bad.

Habits are neither good, nor bad inherently, but rather it's what we do with them.

A bad habit would be to wake up each day and spend a couple of hours farting around online before thinking about starting any work.

A good habit would be to, perhaps, read a little bit in a book to "get your mind right", then work after that.

From what I read, you just can't get rid of a bad habit. You pretty much have to replace it with a good habit.

For me, since I usually work my "real" job at night, I used to sleep in until 10-11. Eventually, around 1230 I'd work out. Then I'd think about what I could do before work. It made my days extremely unproductive.

Now, I set my alarm to 9 everyday. I may fart around for a few minutes, but then I eat breakfast while reading a little bit in a book. Then I work out. Then I see what I can do productively for the rest of the day until I have to go to "work". My attitude is very different and leads me to productivity.

I had a bad habit before, i smoke and i could finish 2 packs of cigarette a day. It really affected my health obviously as well as my lungs then I started to breath heavily for a few miles of walk.

Nice habit. So inspirational. A month is to long for you to become successful if you have this habit. Keep it up.

Success and failure are both habits.

I am making success a habit of mine. I try to succeed in everything that I do. I do my best, and then I do more! I never settle for less than what I know I am capable of, and then I push myself just a bit harder so that I am constantly growing and getting better.

"Greatness is something you do, not something you are"

When failure is a habit, you become accustomed to failure which allows you to give less than your best and be okay with failing. I've experience this before and will never go back.

Habits appear to be negative but don't you realize that without these habits we wouldn't be able to learn something and from these we wouldn't know how to take control of ourselves.

Habits are awesome! MOST of what we do is habit. We all have a certain way of starting the day; we have our little rituals that we do just 'cause. The fun part is when you create a habit of excellence, like getting to the stuff you DON'T want to do, first thing in the morning; or exercising every day; or writing in your journal; or meditating.

Give yourself a goal of a habit you want to create. Then commit to doing that thing, and thinking positively about it while you do it (to release the yummy dopamine and other feel-good chemicals that are released as part of the reward). Repeat DAILY for 30-60 days depending on the habit; you'll know it stuck when you get up one day and do it automatically.

For me, the single best habit I created was a daily meditation practice. It's how I start the day, and at night I end the day with a short gratitude meditation. I can't even begin to describe how powerfully this has affected my life, my prosperity, my opportunities...

Like Aristotle said, "Excellence is not an act, but a habit."

I guess my bad habit is a lack of schedule. I can't think of any good habits, lol.

Success is a habit, so does failure. To succeed is to create success habit.

For me, one of the habits is to look at my macro yearly plan weekly. And break the yearly plan into daily action tasks. I do this on every Monday, so that my week is pan out with activities and task to be completed.

Everyday, I'll refer to the task list to complete them. But I'll leave buffer for adjustment, because sometimes certain tasks take longer than planned, or urgent tasks come up and have to be dealt with immediately.
