Be HONEST: How Authoritative Do I REALLY Sound?? (my first audio recording ever in IM!)

Hello there! My name is MaxTheMarketer and thank you very much for reading this forum-post from me.

I have done something that really pushed my comfort zone, I assure you, since I have finally recorded my voice for the very first time to be broadcasted globally...

Please use the following link to download a short sound clip with me speaking (only edited done in Camtasia was noise reduction, no edited with some bloopers and you will hear my voice become soar and uncomfortable and you will have a blast laughing at it I'll tell ya!):

https://www.dropbox.com/s/axj0nvvrnv9h6fd/Untitled.mp3

In my audio clip I will be asking you for two important constructive criticism:

1. Is my English good enough for you to understand what I am saying, the sentence structures and the grammar?

2. How does my voice REALLY sound like? Do I sound like someone you would take seriously or do I sound like a submissive 12-year old boy complaining about life?

I was feeling really uncomfortable at some parts of the recording, which is AWESOME, because it was a time since I actually pushed my comfort zone so this is great development for me and I am really open to criticism regarding my quality of speaking the English/American language and how my voice sound in general.

At other parts I felt more comfortable and I could almost sense how my voice changed as well. You might be able to spot this as well! :-)

I would like to receive your feedback, and I am okay if you tell me the harsh truth, "Since you don't sound like Morgan Freeman, you will be burned and flamed like Justin Bieber for a long time, my son!" ^^,

Please download it now, listen to it, laugh about it and then give me your honest feedback! ;-)

Take Care & Have An Awesome Day, Fellow Warrior(s)! / Max "MaxTheMarketer" K.

P.S. Please take this post seriously as I am about to start recording my voice, create podcasts, audio training courses and PowerPoint Video Training courses etc and I want to make sure I use my voice the best I can with my limited resources.

I'm norwegian, so that you first know that i'm naturally critical of you damn swedes

In all seriousness, I don't think you have anything to worry about. If the content you bring is great, no one is going to care how you pronounce words. And just because you are critical of yourself doesn't mean that others will be so from the get go. Those things happen if you make some outragous claim or seem unnatural/fake. No one is naturally critical, we become it when something smells fishy. Being critical is kind of an alarm that goes off, more often for certain individuals than with others, but it is not a natural state in any way.

The thing I liked best was your honesty. You seemed real if that makes sense to you? You didn't "try to hard" or seemed forced in your presentation. It makes it more natural to trust and listen to what you have to say. And if your content is great as well, i'd want to listen more. If not, I wouldn't. Not because of your voice, but because of the information that comes trough it

If I was going to point my finger at one thing it seems like you focus too much on pronouncing words correct. Just let it flow, man. Think when you think, speak when you speak, don't combine them too much

I think your voice sounded fine, very clear and your language flow was pretty smooth. Sounded very natural except for a few over-pronunciations. The fact you have an accent adds an interesting element to what you say. Difficult to say how authoritative you are because that will depend on what you speak about. For example a young man talking about age-specific topics like video-games, tech and so on you could sound great if you know your stuff. Talking about philosophy or medicine on the other hand would be a stretch.

Whatever you speak about I would add some energy to your voice and breathe your enthusiasm into everything you say. As I'm sure you know, when people talk about things that interest them you can really feel their enthusiasm and notice they are talking at a brisk pace because they're excited to share their knowledge.

      Hope that helps.
