The Paradox of Choice - Why More is Less

If you have 1 hour, and want to watch a video that will blow your mind, this is one of the cooler videos I've seen recently.

We all hear how "less is more" or how "more is less", but rarely does anyone ever teach us this in a way where it becomes branded into our mind forever.

There is a very ugly side to having more choices in life. And this video does an excellent job explaining why.

i have heard the concepts before as it came out the same time as the long tail ..

the paradox of choice or more from the danger of lack of focus ..

in a world with limited choices it is easier to get away with not having focus ..

but when you want a tv that is just right for a certan spot .. a 100 inch screen for a big wall in a resteraunt or the little screan on your phone .. the wide range of choice is good

Life is all about choices. More you get, more you desire for. The problem with most people is to control their desires. This is the point where most of them fall.

    Excellent video..

It's a popular concept in selling that the more you other choices to your prospects the less your conversion will be...

    Cheers,

I didn't watch the video but I've heard it explained before.

tl;dr: People get confused by having too many choices and decide to avoid that confusion by avoiding making a choice at all. In other words, giving your customers 10 different options can result in less sales than giving them 3 different options, because they get so confused by the more options that they just avoid your product selection altogether.

I didn't watch the video either, but I have read the book of the same name. Definitely worth reading. May I also recommend The Checklist Manifesto, too - the same kinda wheelhouse when it comes to refining personal effectiveness.
