Hi all warriors...

Today, i read a good article found on HBR web. It's about 9 habit that sucessfull people always do, there are.

1. Have Grit
2.Know Exactly How Far You Have Left to Go
3.Get Specific
4.Seize the Moment to Act on Your Goals
5.Focus on What You Will Do
7.Focus on Getting Better, Rather than Being Good8.Be a Realistic Optimist
9.Don't Tempt Fate

I understand the habit from number 1 to 8, but I still don't understand about number 9. Can anyone explain it?

my guess .. would be don't leave it up to fate alone ..

don't depend on winning the lottery. winning american idol. or getting a huge inhertence from a rich uncle you never knew you had ..

and in more advanced thinking don't limit how fate presents opportunity ..

OK, so it means that if we want something, just got to do it? Or we can't catch 2 cats at the same time?

I dont really agree on counting the steps you still have to take. For me, I count the steps I already took and be proud of my self because I took action.

    • I think the omission of "tempting fate" is a good one to make. It is kind of like not being tempted to do something wrong or influencing someone else to do wrong in the interest of receiving some form of personal gain.

If fate is not tempted, theoretically there will be no negative consequences returned to the individual. Theoretically!

Tempt fate is an expression that signifies taking chances where the odds are likely against you. So you shouldn't do something, although there's a promise of reward, that will hurt or cause misfortunes to you or to someone else. It also means that you did something wrong but you are persistent on doing that again so the consequences will also be greater.
