How long did it take you to succeed?

I'm 26 and am still not making any money from internet marketing. It's because I keep buying courses and not doing anything with them, but I don't know what is preventing me from taking action year after year. I first learned about "internet marketing" and "making money online" when I was about 16. I was really into hacking and then I found one of those chain letters and started posting it in forums and actually had 2 or 3 people send me $1. Then I found out about all those "get rich quick" type schemes like cash gifting and hyip's, but I was under 18 so I couldn't invest in them. Then when I turned 18 I started trying different MLM programs and mail order type business, but never made any money with them. And then when I was about 20 or 21 or so I bought the "google cash system" by Chris (something) and tried google Adwords, but lost like $50 which I couldn't afford so I stopped.

Then when I was 21 I moved back in with my parents and got a part-time job and started going to school part time, but I never gave up my dream of building an online business. And for about the last 3 or 4 years I have been constantly buying IM courses and trying to build an online business, with little success. At first I would actually implement the information that I read and I made some money but not very much (about $100-$300 total in the last 5 years), but the last 2 years I just keep constantly buying courses and not doing anything with them. I keep telling myself this is the last course I am going to buy and I am going to focus on this 100% and commit to following through on it, but it never seems to happen. I think one of the main reasons is because I'm terrified to invest more than $50 on anything.

Anyways, my question is, has anyone been in this dreaming, hoping, buying, and taking very little action cycle for longer than 5 years and actually gotten out of it and successfully built an online business?

You need to stop wasting your money and focus on what you want to do. Then take action to achieve your goals. Money isn't everything and you don't have to keep spending to make it.

Focus Focus and More Focus... And be patience... Try to find some coaching program and make the things happens... the IM is not a easy way to make million dolars in one night, you need, action, passion and patience.
    Best regards

same issue i had .. i stopped buying im stuff and just paid attention when i realized i didn't want an online business so much.. but started to search for what i could make offline and then sell online .

find what you want to produce offline then figure out the online media that can help you distribute it .. and take jobs that help you find what you want to make

One of the reasons you aren't succeeding is quite obvious to see for an outsider. You don't know what you are working towards, you don't have any real goals. It's hard to force ourselves to work when we don't know why we are working in the first place.

Watching TV on the other hand is an easy choice to make, it's instant pleasure and the mind knows that. Internet Marketing is not always instant pleasure and without detailed goals, you might as well be lost in a city with no road map.

If I was to ask you right now "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?", would you be able to give an answer instantly without any form of hesitation? Not just a one sentence answer now but a long description of how your life is going to be better and what will have changed.

Once you figure out what you want to achieve, the work becomes fun. Your mind will finally allow you to accept that it's not going to be easy, but the end goal is worth the hard work now.

    Good luck on your journey!

If you hard now, the rewards will soon be here!

Have a good and productive day

I chose entrepreneurship over further education despite being laughed at by my friends and family..

I recently hit the "RESTART" button on my life, read my personal blog to find out how I did it :)

I think the answer is far more fundamental. First figure out what success means to you. Is it only money? What about happiness? What about fulfillment? What about "every day above ground is a good day" kind of success? That's what it was for me when I had cancer. Now I can never be unsuccessful.
The type of questions you ask yourself will reveal the stories you tell yourself. What is success for you?

I think when you buy many courses you will know what can work or not, this time stop looking for and take action build something with your knowledge. You have enough smart to know what is really, what is truth. Just ask yourself before do anything. I know you have great experience with things that you bought. So start with yourself, what help you make some money? Keep it up and do it will help you make more money. You know what work let focus on it.

I succeeded very early in life.. in the corporate software world.
But when I entered the IM world about 3 years ago, I was as green as the next guy.

I'd have to say it was somewhere in the range of 6-9 months until I earned a dime.. and just like everyone else, bought product after product.

It wasn't until I realized you couldn't buy your way into this game, you had to think your way into it.

You had to disengage your WALLET, and engage your BRAIN!

Once I started doing that, things started coming together reelly well...
last year was really good, and the last 6 months have been FANTASTIC.

Not only that, I'm so much happier and have so much more peace of mind, now that I'm successful in Internet marketing and Network Marketing.

A lot more than the later years of my corporate life.

I wish I would have shifted over 10 years earlier.

MANY MANY successful entrepreneurs were in your same exact position. It doesn't matter how long you've been in that negative cycle, what matters is when you will put your foot down and change things to get into a positive cycle.

It all starts with a choice and a moment.

Stop buying, stop learning (well, stop learning as much as you currently feel you need to), and start doing. Learn while doing. Learn while implementing. Take a clock and make sure 80% of your time is spent building something, anything. The other 20% can be spent on email, research, "learning"

    You've got this!

Distraction can ruin everything for you. To align your mind with your goals, ambition, dreams, fantasies is the best way to guarantee success in life. It is not about how long would it take someone to succeed in life but, how long can someone stay aligned to their due course of success in life.
