Hello My fellow Warrior,

Andrew Here, and i wanted to get some feed back about what you guys think of Tony Robbin's. I came across of some of his talks on YouTube and it gave me great perspective and incite. Made me re-evaluate my path and direction with my business. Motivated me to get my ass in gear. Any of you had similar feelings / thoughts?

I've been a big fan of Tony ever since I started out my journey on the IM world. It was what kept me motivated during the down times I had.

I have listened to most of his stuff. Very powerful and definitely worth every second of your time listening to what he has to offer.

Hi Andrew, I would highly recommend Tony Robbins, I've been following his books/CD's for years but finally got around to attending his UPW event recently - all I can say is amazing - a lot of areas were familiar from the book but the in-person format gives way more backing to the topics so I'd recommend the UPW conference if you have the opportunity

Tony has sometimes has been accused of taking ideas - Bandler and Grinder's NLP as a prime example - and appropriating then as his own, after putting a minor spin on them. Different people have different perspectives on this.

For my part I think he has consistently delivered the best insights in terms of how to dramatically increase your personal effectiveness.

As well as being a master communicator he is also able to take cutting edge and emerging psychology and package them in an easy to understand, accessible way.

Perhaps the foremost proponent of human development alive today.

Well, the Good Book says that there is nothing new under the sun. All the
IDEAS in every self-help book can be found in the BIBLE.

Wayne Dyer admits openly that his ideas are not original but he gets
them from reading the classic writers. You don't need originality
to be effective. You just need to be able to communicate ideas
          that would help other people.

You know what they say about advice: it is what you know you need
to do but which you didn't.

Tony robbins is very successful at what he is doing, because he is a very good marketer. A lot of what he teaches is followed in the IM world as well. .Especially when it comes to copywriting. He understands his target audience well. He knows that the only people who buy from him are the people whose life is either messed up big time and are depressed or who are on the verge of doing something difficult. He clearly communicates his message well to his target audience.
Basically what I learned from him from a marketing standpoint is about understanding human needs. What is common across all over the world, what makes people do and why they do - is all based on Needs and understanding the 6 human needs that he teaches really helps in marketing.

I like Tony Robbins. I don't care from where he got his ideas since everyone steals from everyone in the self-development field. There hasn't been anything new since Earl Nightingale.

What I don't like about him it's his energy. It's cool in the beginning but after listening for him for 30 minutes, I'm tired. The best voice I've ever heard was David Deida in "The Way of The Superior Men". I've listened for 3 hours in a row without any fatigue.

Dan Kennedy falls into the same category of annoying voice. Good info, very good info but it simply hurts to listen to him for too long.

I highly recommend reading his two books and then attending his UPW event which is his entry level event. You will learn strategies and how to make changes in your life that will have a tremendous impact. Of course like anything in life you have to go out and implement what you have learned.

He's definitely one of the best salesman ever. In order for him to sell, he has to convince you of problems you don't really have. How can he change my life? He could write me a check.

I'm awfully jealous of someone who has no problems whatsoever.

The point is less about "convincing you of problems you don't really have" than realizing that perhaps you desire a higher standard in your life for something--whether it's your health, relationships, financial situations, or what have you. There's always something more to reach for. The seminar is just about helping you figure out what it is exactly that you're looking to improve, and giving you some tools and strategies to improve that area.

Yes, but he's first a marketer. For example he claims that all depressed people need to do to feel better is change their physiology. I'm not so sure about that. It's a little irresponsible to make a claim like that when you could affect someone's health.

Actually the ruling is still out on the root cause of depression but from what we do know about neuro-science, Robbins and NLP may be closer to the reality than what the APA would have people believe. Psychiatrist Dr. Aaron Beck developed what he termed "Beck Triad" which demonstrated how habitual thought patterns lead to a downward negativity spiral in consciousness.

This leads to a biochemical reaction in the body that raises cortisol levels and lowers serotonin levels, and biochemical state that most Psychiatrist would say are the "cause" of depression, but they may be nothing more than indicators of a preexisting physiological state.

Physiology and psychology are linked together in ways that most people simply do not understand, so actually I think Robbins is right in most cases.

I've never really cared that most of Tony's material is borrowed, because I love the way he presents it. He is a motivational speaker and very good at what he does. He's not the biggest innovator when it comes to personal development, but he is usually 10 times more effective in articulating these innovations than the 'original'.

I believe it was R. Kiyosaki who said "I'm not the best author, I'm the best SELLING author." I feel that applies to Tony too. Especially as an IM Tony is the man to model.

While Tony's content usually comes from other people, he is excellent at teaching it in a way that gets it across and motivates people to use it. This is his strength. The next important piece is that people have to make the decision to take action and use the information. Any of his material or workshops are worth using.

Tony's a great guy and I'd recommend the UPW. Doing the firewalk will change your perspective and whenever you feel intimidated it's a great anchor to fall back upon to get you going. I didn't invest in his higher level coaching, so I can't comment on them. Just decided to take action from what I'd learnt instead and invest in building my business instead.

Yes Tony is a fantastic marketer, promoter and high achiever, a lot of people talk him down, but for anyone who has NEEDED what he teaches, he has been a life saver. Not everyone has the common sense, self control or belief that is required to be successful or motivated. He combines HIS success and wealth with genuinely effective help for those who get involved with what he teaches. I like the structure of his presentations and courses. I literally pulled myself out of severe depression and financial doom after comitting to one of his 6 cd courses. Best $60 I ever spent and his words still ring in my head occasionally when I get overwhelmed. "Change your state!". His gig works, it helped my husband and I get away from 9-5 jobs with 2 hours a day of commuting to work, to being able to build our own home, start a family and enjoy financial freedom plus run a very successful home business and employ other people and in turn help them get out of the traditional employment role too. They have flexible jobs with lots of perks and we are just loving life.

Well, I don't really disagree. But think about it; how do motivational speakers make a lot of money? By motivating you to make more money and charging you for it. Sure, they can make money giving motivational seminars for free on the side, and have a "day job" But career motivational speakers make the money they do by charging people tons of money on how to make money. That's just the way it is.

And Tony is a true salesman - what does the root of the word sales mean? To 'serve', right? Nothing wrong with that.

I recall one motivational speaker charging thousands just to raise your level of consciousness. There are other folks are willing to help you do it for free. Abraham Hicks once got asked if he could give away his teachings/products for free? Hicks answered that it should be all free - but some got to eat to speak.

And motivational speakers do tell us what problems we didn't know we have. It brings them to our awareness, so we take can actions of them. It's fine if they point you out to resources you need to take. But some do want to charge you for it. Not that there's anything wrong with that, unless it's a scam.

There are a lot of great public speakers out there. However, many do not know about them, since they're not "mainstream" enough.

With that said, it is not wrong, per se. But that's reality. I learned from a lot of Tony Robbins, Brian Tracy, James Ray (before he went to prison), Jack Canfield, and other personal development folks. Some make a living out of it, some don't.

Why not give your IM products and services away for FREE. Would IM qualify as a 'day job'? What is wrong with charging people for VALUE. PLEASE!! I find the idea that people should give their books/consulting/seminars away for free, very disrespectful. Tony has positively impacted the lives of myriads. Originality is a myth, and it is overrated. A laborer deserves his wage.

I think you missed my point Michael. I'm not saying every "guru" should give everything away for free. I'm saying there are good folks that do provide value , but then there are some folks who do shady things and charge for it (when it shouldn't value that much).

Plus, that's what volunteers are for right?

People pay for the "good feeling" - some may charge thousands, some may charge cheap. It's all market value to me - not the "personal" value itself. Otherwise, people could charge $1,000 for a bottle of water and justify it.

Besides, plenty of people DO GIVE their books, consulting, and seminars for FREE - it's called a "lead magnet" isn't it?

The main point is, there's nothing wrong with hiring business coach, going to self-help seminars, etc. If they provide you with massive value that leads to more money and better health, so be it. However, I'm wary about those who are dependent on them ('guru') as some sort of lifestyle. "No guru for me, no motivation for me." There was one guru (James Ray) who charged lots thousands for his weekend seminars, and always pitch his next seminar for the double the price, and then pitches his next seminar for triple the price, and so on. Those types I tend to avoid.

    IMHO

He's motivating, ya gotta give him that but I personally would never give him any money.

In fact I wouldn't give any of the big motivational guys any more money, not even for books.

I don't find people that are simply motivating of much use to be honest. Here is a rant I did on him and Bob Proctor http://www.warriorforum.com/mind-war...ting-rich.html

The other thing I dont like is that basically these guys get rich by working for someone else in the same "Make Money" or "Motivation" niche, they get rich, then they showcase themselves off as someone to copy which is just ridiculous.

Mt grandmother is motivating... who cares. The point is that in life we all have goals right. Lose weight, financial, relationships etc. There is no amount of motivation for me personally that compares to having someone that has done what I want to do and taking advice from them... if im going to go thw way of seeking help from another person. instead of some person that makes money from motivating people.

Im sure if you ran a survey you will find that the best motivation comes from internally within ones self. I get motivated to pay the bills because I know I need to take care of my partner and my daughter, I get motivated to lose weight because it makes me feel better... see what im saying? why would you honestly need to pay thousands for a weekend where Tony tells me "You can do it!!!!"

Its kinda like "Well i know I can and I will, so what am I paying you for exactly..."

But thats just me and maybe other people are so un-motivated they sit on their couch all day and need a Tony Robbins book to just get off the couch for five minutes.

Tony Robbins is actually quite a brilliant success coach and psychologist. I attended the Robbins-Madanes Center for Strategic Intervention and learned an amazing amount of information about what makes people tick, how to communicate to people, how mindset works, how emotion works, and SO much more. It's part of the reason I market myself as a "success strategies coach". It's a practical and tactical application of psychology theory.

What's really interesting is that modern nuero-science is only now just beginning to understand what NLP talked about 30 years ago.If you really listen to what Tony teaches you will learn a lot about yourself and other people.

I really like the Tony Robbins especially his "Personal Power 2". For me I think the way he explains things is really clear, simple but also very powerfull and fun way.

But if Tony Robbins or any or motivational speaker is good for you I cannot answer.

Think there are many motivational speakers will tell you important things you should do like "setting goals", "determine who you are and what exites you most", "what are your values", "ask proper questions", etc.

And will give you instructions and excersizes to do and investigate/train these skills.

The perfect motivational speaker for you is the one that actually gets you to DO this stuff.
