Born for a dime, you will never amount to a quarter !

Hi Guys,

In my country there is a saying: "If you are born for a dime, you will never be a quarter" meaning that if you are not born in a rich family you will stay the way you are and never will be and earn more. Oh forgot to mention I am from Amsterdam, The Netherlands by the way !

Most people in my area all have the conviction that being succesful is only for the lucky few. I used to think that way too since the people around you influence you when you are child. What I also heard is people having the conviction that rich people must have earned their money with criminal activities or people saying that someone driving a Ferrari is a show off / bragging.

When people around you, family, friends, school friends all think this way, you start to copy these beliefs as a child, so I had to work hard to de-program myself from all these limiting beliefs. I found that tlimiting beliefs and envy / jeaulousy towards succesful people are exactly the things keeping people from being succesful themselves.

When someone is jeaulous of another driving an expensive sportscar or living in a mansion that person is basically saying to him / herself with being jealous, I don't think I can achieve and have the same things as him / her. They are not angry or resentful towards the succesful person, deep down they are angry at themselves for thinking they cannot achieve and have the same as the succesful person they are jeaulous of.

The majority of people say and think being succesful and having your own succesful business is only for the lucky few. Now everybody is talking about how difficult it is to make money in this crisis. They forgot that the Big Depression in 1930 brought forth more millionaires than ever before or after.

"If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change"

The people who are talking about crisis are the ones who watch negative news on television and newspapers. They think there is a crisis, cause the media keeps repeating it as a mantra. Lots of millionaires and billionares do no watch negative news on television / newspapers simply cause they know this Universe is abundant in every way.

There are trillions of dollars and only 7 billion people, when you think of it, with that money everyone could be a millionaire. There is an abundance of stars, sand, trees, water, people, animals, plants, flowers and so on, even money trillions of it. As said everyone could be a millionaire with trillions of dollars, still most people think in lack which is equal to Poverty Consciousness. Society and especially the media, schools and television teach people to think in terms of lack.

Ego / Thinking brain = Limitation / Lack

Universe = Possibilities / Abundance

I was wondering if somone here knows of research / study done into people that were born for a dime and became a quarter. People who were born in ghetto's or other poor environments and went on to become succesful. I know of businessman and rappers who achieved this, however I wondered if there has ever been done research on this, how many people achieved this.

I know millions of people went from being poor to succescful businessman or any other profession in the last hundred years. Would be cool if such research has been done with the numbers to back it up ! Maybe someone here knows of such research, if not I like to hear your take on the saying "If you are born for a dime, you will never be a quarter" !

I don't know of a study like that, but there's an awesome book called "The millionaire next door" that is a study made of the millionaires in the U.S. What kind of car they drive, where do they shop, how they made their money and a lot more statistics. A very interesting read.

Thanks for the tip Diversion !

I read Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Napoleon Hill interviewed the same group of 500 millionares and billionaires over and over again a period of 30 years. He interviewed the same succesful men over and over again. He became friends with some of the most succesful and influencial people of his time. Altough he was born poor , he went on to became succesful later in life and was asked to advice presidents.

He found that the group of 500 millionares and billionaires did things differently than "normal"people, but that the people in this group of 500 did things the same as each other. Napoleon Hill found a "Science to Getting Rich" you could say. He describes this system in his book Think and Grow Rich. The book contains lots of interesting and helpfull stuff, it also shows which mindset to have.

I found out that Think and Grow Rich is in the top 10 most read and sold books in the world with 100 million copies sold. 100 million copies were sold through mouth to mouth advertising alone, that baffled me somewhat. The book is now used as starting point for a lot of selfhelp and motivational courses and teachers. You could say it is the Bible / Mother of most of the current teachings about mindset and methods to attract money / wealth /abundance happiness into your life... as it was written in 1937..

I would advise this book to every starting / struggling and even to already somewhat sucessful people / businessmen. This book can help you double your earnings maybe even up to 500% and then some, if you apply the methods and mindset described in this book !

Everybody has the power to be a successful person someday. It will take a courageous person to do it. Never back down just because of what others believe. God gave you your own mind for you to make decisions on your own and not influenced by others. DE-PROGRAM is the cure. Be optimistic and make your dreams come true.

I guess it really comes down to saying to yourself and your circumstances trying to limit you that you are going to make it.

That in itself is not enough as you'll then need to get the right tools/information and then actually DO IT!

One of the lines I've followed as best as I can is...Plan the work AND work the plan!

There is WORK involved which often means some things will work and some won't (it's not an exact science). I have read Napoleon Hill's book and one thing he does shout out is Commitment and Persistence.

Keep going until you get what you want.

      Just my little contribution.

      To your success

Apparently your people have never heard of a diamond in the rough. Every piece of coal has the ability to become a dazzling diamond. Those that do, withstand the pressure and allow it transform them with time.
