Your Favourite Biblical Quotations

Hey people. : )

Thought I'd start another inspiring / motivating quotation thread, this one being your favourite Biblical quotations.

Here's mine:

“Love is patient, love is kind, It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not
dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with truth. it always protects, always trusts, always
hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”¾ Corinthians 13:4-8

"Without a vision, the people perish!" - Proverbs

You need a vision; a long-term view of where you are going and why and that's why I love that quote.

    Will

EDIT: I also love some of proverbs in the newer paraphrases e.g.

"A nagging woman is like a dripping tap."

"It is better to live in the corner an attic than in a big house with a crabby woman."

Seriously, if you have never read Proverbs in The Good News version, you are in for a real treat (as you can see).

The Message has some pretty funny proverbs quotes.

No need for dirty marketing or trying to get one over on people:

      God gives out Wisdom free,
is plainspoken in Knowledge and Understanding.
He's a rich mine of Common Sense for those who live well,
a personal bodyguard to the candid and sincere.
He keeps his eye on all who live honestly,
and pays special attention to his loyally committed ones.

It just goes to show that some of the text really ought to have been left to the definitive version ... KJV, King James, of course

You who sit down in the High God’s presence,
spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow,
Say this: “God, you’re my refuge.
I trust in you and I’m safe!”
That’s right—he rescues you from hidden traps,
    shields you from deadly hazards.
His huge outstretched arms protect you—
    under them you’re perfectly safe;
his arms fend off all harm.
Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night,
not flying arrows in the day,
Not disease that prowls through the darkness,
not disaster that erupts at high noon.
Even though others succumb all around,
drop like flies right and left,
no harm will even graze you.
You’ll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance,
watch the wicked turn into corpses.
    Yes, because God’s your refuge,
the High God your very own home,
Evil can’t get close to you,
harm can’t get through the door.
    He ordered his angels
to guard you wherever you go.
    If you stumble, they’ll catch you;
their job is to keep you from falling.
You’ll walk unharmed among lions and snakes,
and kick young lions and serpents from the path.
14-16 “If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,” says God,
“I’ll get you out of any trouble.
I’ll give you the best of care
if you’ll only get to know and trust me.
    Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times;
I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party.
I’ll give you a long life,
give you a long drink of salvation!”

    Psalm 91

My favorite verse is John 3:16.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

"When they came to the crowd, a man came up to Jesus, falling on his knees before Him and saying, “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is a lunatic and is very ill; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. “I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not cure him.” And Jesus answered and said, “You unbelieving and perverted generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him here to Me.” And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him, and the boy was cured at once.

Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not drive it out?” And He said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.

I'm not religious nor follow Christianity.

But my favorite is, "John 8:32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

I remember reading somewhere that the translator of the Bible never put the word "FUN' anywhere. But words like Joy, Paradise, and Happiness are there.

The reason? Having "fun" is subjective - being drunk can be fun, so can helping others. However, ultimately we see inner peace ad lasting happiness in paradise. =)

    Here's mines:

"I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken,
nor his seed begging for bread." Psalms 37:25

I always find it interesting how all the older motivational/self-help speakers
quoted from and used the Bible so profusely in their writing and speaking
but it seems to be disappearing from the newer breed.

      Isaiah 15-16 NKJ

"Can a woman forget her nursing child,
And not have compassion on the son of her womb?
      Surely they may forget,
Yet I will not forget you.
