Get off the ground first...

Quit all the bull and start being serious. Get out there and get some REAL experience instead of learning all day long.

I'm not saying, hey go build a website without doing any research at all.

What I am saying is don't ONLY do research, which is all I see in most areas.. Someone will just keep learning and learning and learning but never actually go out there and apply that learning.

Without application.. it just becomes jumbled up and isn't going to help you much.

Think about how it is to be a doctor.

They go to a University or College and learn, but they don't get any real experience until they are in the situation. Many doctors I've talked with say that although the books definitely did help them, nothing has helped them more than being put in a situation where a patient is hurt or in trouble. A dummy can't give them the same experience, plain and simple.

You want to lose weight? Get off your ass and lose weight...

You want to read faster? Start reading more and challenge yourself...

You want to build a business? Get out there and see what it's like to own a business first, it's more challenging than you might think...

You want to ride a motorcycle?

Well.. do what I did.

I bought a motorcycle for $1,000. I had no experience, but I hoped on after watching a few youtube videos...

I started by turning the choke all the way up to the highest possible level, causing the bike to move without using the throttle. It was definitely a mistake, but guess what... I learned how to move the bike, brake, and eventually learned not to use the choke. Within a week I had enough experience to get on the real streets.

Now, only a few years later, I organize the largest motorcycle community in Hampton Roads, VA known as the 757 Sport Bikes. What's even more inspiring is knowing that many of the other communities that now exist in our area, branched off of my original group. I'm proud of that and it would have never happened if I sat around on my ass too afraid to get on the bike and just do it.

P.S. Think about how some of the largest companies are in existence, many started in their garages, basements, and without major investments. That's because they just did it and learned along the way.

Wow. Justin Lewis is back. : ) Great article. Thanks.

Something I'll add is even though taking productive action at IM took me a while, a great percentage of the useful information was still stored in my brain. Basically, like you said, research is definitely important, but useless until it's utilized.

    Cheers.

    Great share Justin.

It all comes down to action. You will never achieve your goals if you don't take consistent action. It does not have to be a lot but you NEED to take consistent action working on your goals daily.

    Cheers,

You hit it right on, Justin. Take ACTION, ACTION, ACTION -- it does no good to gain knowledge and not implement it! Thanks for the thread.

i do this with my cooking ..i started learning how to cook about 2 years ago ..in the last 8 months i have gotten more serious about making good food that tastes goo and getting away from the crap food like tasting stuff from boxes ..

i did not cook from my mom .. i cook for her and she will look at what i am doing and be confused ..haha..but my food comes out good well better than a lot of stuff i can get in a restaraunt ..can't make much of a business out of it though because i use a different formula every time i cook ..i cook based on the quality and quantity of ingredients i have ..

my cooking went up a couple levels when i started making my own dressing and marinades ..just watched a few youtubes for basics ..now i am making my own tomato sauces ...and the next step will be when i have the proper environment to make my own bread and pasta ..then get my own garden going ..then there is seasoning and grinding my own meat ..

anyway if it is something important you really want to do..start where you are ..and accept if you are not starting it is really not that important to you .

but if you realize just learning the stuff is what is important to you .. pick cheaper new stuff to learn about ..and put the 29.99 or 59.99 ..you would blow on the next info product you never do anything with in a fund ..untill you find that point where you have learned enough where the only thing you need is money to get started ..

You need to get in the game if you want to play. The world's most successful entrepreneurs were not afraid to make a mistake because they knew anything could be corrected.
