Affirmations? Chanting? Meditation? Feeling Low?

Guys; Have you tried working?

You know, making sales calls?

Want to feel good about yourselves? Work.
Bills giving you stress? Work.
Want money, but don't know the "Secret Formula"? Work.

I was in a sales slump once for a couple of months. So someone suggested I keep a record of what I did all day...and not lie.

So I did. Reality can be motivating.

I was telling myself that I was working hard. But I was working about an hour a day, and the rest of the time, I was thinking about how hard I worked...without much success.

Want all your problems to disappear? OK, that's never going to happen. But you would be amazed at ho much better you feel after a solid day of effort.

I know this section of the Forum is more popular with the "Be positive and your dreams will come true" crowd.

But years ago (too many), read motivational books every day. I had my goals written out and placed on my mirror. I read them aloud every day. I had Affirmation cards. Believe me...I was one you you.

Then I read a book on marketing. I started studying marketing and selling.
I tried out these ideas. Some worked, most didn't.

But it was the marketing that made me money. Not the affirmations.

Ever read a Success Story? These are Marketing Success Stories. In whatever business you are in...there are successful people making a real living. What are they doing? Chanting? Reading another book on the "Law of Attraction"? No. They are working on their marketing and sales.

The problem with affirmations is that your customers aren't reading them. They don't care about your goals, and they won't buy because you are sending out "Positive vibes".

They buy because they want what you are offering, because your marketing created that desire. So, if you are in business...advertising, marketing, and sales are where the money is.

Would money help? It sure does help me.

    Hey Claude,
Appreciate your point of view and your opinion on affirmations v/s marketing.
Surely its the end result that matters. But affirmations help you to gear up, mentally prepare yourself and sets you in sync with what you want to achieve in life. Its basically a subconscious mind play.
In fact you can use affirmations to attract money.

I have been practicing law of attraction and affirmations. From my experience I can say that they do work. You just need to consolidate your beliefs in your affirmations!

results are the best affirmations ..and listening to your own inner response when you repeat an affirmation give you something to work on .

i cook really good tasting food that is healthy and i am constantly learning how to cook healthier food . and i get really annoyed when i eat something unhealthy .

it may sound like an affirmation but it is true

there are many things to work on affirmation are fine if you take the actions to make them a reality .

meditating is fine if you use it to clear your mind and work more effectively .

chanting is fine if you use it to calm your mind to work better ..

doing something that gets some meaningful measurable results .

i close my eyes i see where i want to be in 6 months to a year ..

I am currently going through a massive personality transition though..it is getting very hard for the me i am to day to identify with who i was 3 months ago and before that .

forget affirmation and all that take control of the pen and write the part in the play this world is you want to play.

once i can fix my lifelong issues with writing or team up with someone with better writing abilities ..i can get on with the work i want to do .

P.s. i snuck some affirmation in ..you want to be real with affirmations then you will need to be willing to use them in conversation with other people .

Truly appreciate your point of view. Whatever philosophies or rules we follow, but in the end its the results that matter.

Affirmations are necessary to frame our mind with positive thoughts, which in turn stimulate us to work towards achieving results, which in turn produce results. Like it is said, everything begins in our mind first. Affirmations helps us to fortify the beginning of any task. And well begun is half done!!

nothing starts in the mind ..the mind receives thoughts ..thousand per minute ..it is the thoughts we train ourselves to hold onto that matter ..and the emotional response we give them .

if you want to know your true beliefs on something ..when you state an affirmation.. listen for and write down the but ..and you will know what you need to work on .

i personally prefer process affirmations when i put any effort into making them ..rather than outcome affirmations ..

i am currently working to regenerate my back to full health ..get a nod of my head

where a statement like " my back is fully healed and pain free " will get a mental yeah right like this ..and a nice little twitch of pain hits .

the problem with a lot of these tools is many people use them to cope with..or escape from the way things are than to ever really do anything about it .

  • That's a pretty serious motivational expression, Claude! I liked what you had to say because it comes from actually knowing what's up.

You come pretty close to sounding like Art Williams. It is sobering to make an honest list of what we actually get done every day.

Our minds love to trick us into believing we are doing an adequate job when in reality we may be working only an hour a day. That can be so true!

Thanks for the helpful "down to earth" thread, Claude.
