My proffesional life is a mess

I'm just venting here and trying to find out if there are more people in my position and how they handle it.

I wish I had 1 job that paid ok....not rich, but survivable without living paycheck to paycheck. I 2 days off a week, and on weekends, or at least most of them because I really don't mind working on the weekends, but it would be nice to have some off.

Right now I have a part time job working a sorta, second shift 2 days a week, meaning its odd hours and only 7 hours. I work that same job everyone weekend second shift. I then have a second job that I work for 3 other shifts. now these shifts are in the middle of the night, more so 3 shifts, but the hours I start and end again change. Some days 8 hours and others 10 and I'm done anywhere from 1am-3am. So I work 7 days a week, allthough because of my hours I actually have 1 day off because i work all night prior.

Even with these two jobs, even though We are not living paycheck to paycheck, we are still very limited in funds. Due to the limited in funds I'm trying to find something I can do online to bring in a little bit of money just to help with bills a little and maybe some fun money once in a while.

I balence 3 work schedules, plus obligations in my personal life, which severly get sacrificed. Does anyone else live like this, and how do you deal with it.

I'm in the same boat. I'm waiting tables right now and just trying to make it. I have some savings, but want to keep that as long as possible because you never know what's coming around the corner. I work at a beach property, so hopefully the summer season will be good to me and I can stack some cash. We will see very soon.

Keep your head up and I'm sure it will all work out for you.

Go to the CPA forum, everyone claims to be millionaires in there haha. I doubt they are telling the truth though. Keep your head up, keep pushing. It will be over one day and you'll be thankful for the struggle.

You need to take advantage of the fact that you are surrounded by people at some point in your life.

These people have interests, wants, and needs. So try to find a way to direct them to things that they would like. If it just so happens that you make a couple quarters for them signing up then who cares?

You wont get rich doing it but it makes money when it makes money. Is the only way to put it.

For example. A few years ago I got myself on as an affiliate for a local fireworks vendor.
This was right around the time of year we are in now.

All I had to do was away a coupon for fireworks from this vendor and I would be paid 20% commission on their purchase.

The coupon was for a free new item they had with a purchase of at least $100.

I handed out over 50 coupons to friends and family from the middle of June until July 4th and had 19 of them used.

It was a good summer All I did was give friends and family a cool deal for something they already were going to buy anyway.

Everyone's professional life is hell, because it's life. For survival we have to earn and this is not so easy at all but don't make it more hard by thinking it again and again. So just do the work you love or love the work you do.... because this is how you live your life at best.

The more you think about it, the more discouraged you become. Don’t wait for the time that you will completely lose it and will stop working. Survival will always be hard and remember, there are many of us who are struggling every day. Focus more on what you have instead of what you can’t have.

wow you must have a lot of needs that must be filled so 1 or 2 income wouldn't be enough. how if your problem isn't about the amount of your incomes but your lifestyle? maybe you can cut down your expenses so that you can have more time to relax

I wish this was the case. My wife and I live a very modest life. I think our life this past year has just been slammed with those financial problems that can't be avoided. We had to put a roof on our house, some medical services. Our debt mostly comes from medical bills.

Sorry to say this, but that's your fault. Don't work hard for your boss but work hard on your self. Meaning you might want to spend one hour or two to read useful stuff instead on working at your job. You can read to gain new skills so you can get a better job, read book on personal development, read book about personal finance, probably get a mentor someone that you can talk to and ask his suggestions.

    Hey,

Stop looking for another job. It's a way to nowhere. Think what you can do yourself, but for yourself. Ask somebody as a partner. Start your own business. Be focused. Do not try everything at once. Be serious about your business online. If you want it just as one more source of income you do not get results you want. Hobby attitude leads to hobby results. Think in this way: If your hobby is fishing the result does not matter. You get pleasure regardless of you catch a fish or not. But imagine that your life and life of your family depends of you catch a fish today or not. Your attitude would be completely different. Get the idea? Good luck!

What helps me through tough times like the ones you are describing is a PLAN to how you are going to make it better. What are you going to do to get out of this difficult situation? In 2 years from now, you can't still be living like this.

You might not be able to do anything TODAY, but you need to start PLANNING today.

What skills can you leverage? Is there something you can (a service-based biz, like lawn cutting, building websites, fixing peoples computer probs, etc.) that will take less time than one of your PT jobs but earn the same amount of $ or a bit more?

Also, internet marketing is NOT get rich quick. That can be a longterm plan, but not short term. Right now you don't have time to build an IM site, you should provide a service for $. And if you are interested in IM then it makes sense to provide a SERVICE (blog article writing, backlinking, graphic design, etc) for other IMers. That way you can learn, earn a bit of extra money right away, and then quit your PT jobs one by one.

Good luck buddy. Sounds tough right now.

It would be better if they invested some of the money in the beginning on self help stuff so that they can brainwash themselves to succeed. They need to see how others, who were probably in worst situations then them, struggled but made it with their own business.

This is good advice. If you do not want to be in this same position in the near future, you need to create a complete plan focusing on where you want to be and then you can start exploring realistic ways that will get you there.

This is a very good starting point.

Learn some new skills, get in a new industry or ditch whatever's keeping you unhappy and CHANGE -- start something new whether that means going to school, starting a business or finding a satisfying job to live where you would feel comfortable.

Life isn't hard at all because you can change it all you want in this day and age.

I also can't sympathise with this story. While I feel bad about the position you're in, you've made these choices yourself. Only you can make the choices to better yourself and get yourself out of the predicament you're in. Best of luck for the future.

I don't think I've made bad choices. Our debt has been from medical bills. We have 2 car payments which with both are under 200.00, which I think is pretty good since I know some that have 1 car payment for over 300.00. We lead a pretty modest life, no video games, cable, but basic. Its frustrating when major unavoidable expenses come through. I love my jobs, but there definitly not in the high pay catigory. I was thinking about doing some online. I thought of joining one of those sites where you can work 10 hours a week and make millions doing it...what do you think. Actually I am looking for something I can do part time maybe for a couple hundred extra per month. its amazing how much an extra couple hundred a month can help. I guess all you can do is keep moving forward

I understand what you are going through. I, at some point in my life did have some rough times, when I have to balance everything out and juggle my schedule from time to time. But then it dawned on me that neither of what I am doing has ever made me reach my goal. In short, I was shooting arrows at different directions and the worst thing is that it has wasted a lot of my time, money and efforts.

Take a seat and set a goal. one step at a time. having a goal will give you a clear vision and a overview of what you are struggling right now.

I am sorry to hear about your struggles. I think that it is great that you are looking for something online. If I were you I would look into setting up a little something on the side and try to get into a business. I would look for one that pays good commissions and has a system in place. It does not take money to make money. That is a myth. The thing is you have to want it so bad that its like oxygen and your head is being held under the water. The basics work. Just tell people what you got and you will start making money. Yes you can do internet marketing but get some money coming in before you get into that. If someone tells you that you can make money online and its super easy then go the other way because that is not the truth. It gets easier once you know what you are doing.

It sounds like you need a big change in the right direction. There are many who do. I did as well and got out of working in the oilfield and now I travel and blog. I think the professional world is not what it used to be. The demands are growing for more of your time and your freedom in exchange for pay that just does not make the grade.

The best advice I can give is to find a residual income stream where you can do the work once and continue to get paid on that work over and over.

Above all, keep your head held high and know that you deserve all the success you hope for.

    Cheers
    Clint

I guess you have to take a little time off, think things very carefully and list down the things that are important to you. In other words, unclutter your mind. The way you are pushing yourself, you won't last very long. Seek peace in your mind and you will have peace in every aspect of your life.
