Have a self-help/pd site? Inside please...

I'm considering starting one and I'm curious, if you have experience in this niche, any pointers you might have before I start walking down that road. I have TONS of content I have written for it already just from my daily thoughts, experiences and introspection. At least a years worth if I update it weekly. I just want to get it online so I can possibly help and connect with others who have similar thoughts.

Something along the lines of TinyBuddha.com sprinkled with some "take action now" and a dash of "stop wasting your life" is the angle I plan on taking.

I know this is a huge and expanding niche so any advice on affiliate programs (feel free to pm me referral links to quality programs), large traffic outlets like pinterest/reddit/tumblr, etc. but geared more toward the self-help crowd would be appreciated.

I've googled around for the information I'm asking for and have a lot of things bookmarked but wanted to reach out for some 'insider' information from those who have experience in the niche as well.

Thanks in advance.

Well, self help isn't a niche at all. It's a HUGE market. The advice I'd offer is to actually find a niche within that market and target those people. An example of a niche would be overcoming procrastination or gaining confidence or how to concentrate. If you try and tackle the entire personal development you're going to find a lot of frustration. Good luck.

You are late in the game, Nate. Even several years ago you were late. A sub-niche is a possibility, but look at the keyword counts, and then look at the sites showing up for those counts. The odds will not be good and it will take a lot of time to get attention.

There is a way to get traction, but that involves a whole system and campaign. If you are interested, let me know and I'll send you a pm.

In the mean time there is this new social group here that was just started, Collaboration Masters. Such a group could be big help.

I agree that self-help is very broad and each person is likely to have his or her own self-help type or need. But to give you some ideas, some self-help types include recovering from alcoholism or drug addiction, finding relief from depression and anxiety, overcoming destructive emotions such as anger, and improving couple relationships.

Just like you, I am planning to launch my own self help website too.

Self-help is a very competitive niche, I do not see you getting much success if you have a general self help website.

I think you should narrow your niche down.
