Spontaneous or Methodical?

I realize we have both of these components "built in" because of our human capacities. But lately the question of which of these traits is most dominate in my life has been reoccurring.

This is tough because I would like to claim both equally, but I know it isn't so. The pleasure of being spontaneous is pretty contagious but can also be darn disarming.

Okay, Okay! I guess I am more methodical than spontaneous. . . .You?

I try to be more methodical in my work, and spontaneous in my play. I think it's hard to succeed with a project if you don't plan it carefully and then stick to that plan. However, if you do that with everything in you life you turn out pretty boring.

Reminds me of the movie Yes Man. I gotta try to be more like Jim Carrey, haha

Used to be really spontaneous but am now methodical for my business. Everything is a split test and thought out rather than simply a spontaneous act. Planning most profit related things out in my life is definitely more methodical than anything else.

Most spontaneous people i know are either haphazard, flaky or as when it comes to finances broke from "whim" based purchases.

When it comes to work, I am pure methodical. I need to carefully plan so I can minimize the risks I am taking. Planning also makes work less complicated. When working, one should be well-organized. Being spontaneous is ideal generally when you are trying to have fun. I guess being spontaneous works sometimes in business but you need to have a lot of luck.

Having a method gives you a repeatable process that you can understand and adjust.

Being spontaneous usually requires you to have a large staff to compensate for sudden changes in direction.

What areas/functions are you talking about?

Being methodical is the right approach, if you are looking for long term success.

Being spontaneous is for those who love short term fame and glory.

I will rather be a successful boring person than an entertaining loser.

Methodical is an approach you can build or create in life. It grows as you mature with time. Being Spontaneous is in-born. Correct me if am wrong. Methodical behavior gets you being more calculated, rigid which is good in working and serious parts of life, but when it comes to living, fun and being you.. one should be Spontaneous. Like Konakid said: methodical in my work, and spontaneous in my play..
