Hi guys,
This question is for those of you who have an extensive background in NLP and or Ericksonian Hypnosis: what, in your honest opinion, is THE best book for learning the basics of NLP & Indirect Hypnosis?

"Trance Formations" by Richard Bandler and John Grinder, the founders is the most readable and best guide to NLP and Ericksonian Hypnosis. I haven't read it yet but Richard's latest work "Richard Bandler's Guide to Trance-formation: How to Harness the Power of Hypnosis to Ignite Effortless and Lasting Change" sounds good too.

Tad James has some good work as well as Kevin Hogan just to toss out some other names not yet mentioned. Even Tony Robbins.

"the basics" out of a book can only be theories. You need to "get physical" (no not like Olivia NJ)

I would suggest strongly that you seek out a "MeetUp" group near you to join.

I want to learn how to climb mountains and read all the best books on that;until you strap on the gear and jump on cliff you'll never learn. Like riding a bike; book learnin' aint a gunna Git R Done.

Getting proficient in NLP requires you to practice and pay attention to the responses you get and make adjustments in your techniques.

People are unique and you will learn to "Calibrate" and get 'good' at it by doing it not reading about it.

Happy hunting, may you find what you're looking for.

I am no NLP master - I barely understand any of it, in fact. However, I was chatting with a couple of friends who are REALLY into NLP, and they recommended a book to me which I will pass on:

"The Big Book of NLP Techniques - Shlomo Vaknin"

I haven't bought it yet, but apparently it is an encyclopedia of NLP techniques.

I cannot comment on indirect hypnosis, other than pointing out that when you say "Eriksonian hypnosis" you are in fact referring to the originator, Milton Erikson, who has several books out there. I imagine that the originator would be a good person to consult on the technique...

      Good luck with it!

      Best Regards, Georgetta

I've read tons of hypnosis books and I found this to be the best and easiest as all you have to do is read the words of the book.

Tranceformations by Richard Bandler - Hands down - one of the most hypnotic reads you'll ever experience - I literally felt myself go into trance while reading it (I'm sure this is a desired effect on his readers).

I know this thread is old, but you have no idea how hard it is to search for this stuff!

I want to learn NLP and hypnosis. I know both of these topics are powerful, but the market is full of scammy sounding people trying to sell crap products.

I would like to learn things like "anchoring" "social persuasion" "better communication techniques" basically the cool stuff.

NOT stuff like "oh now... YOUR HYPNOTIZED!.... and you think your a chicken..!" Like that is just a load of crap haha I want to learn how to direct conversation and achnor feelings and things like that.

Can anyone please recommend a DVD program, online course, books, or names of people?

I have taken note of the others mentioned. Thank you so much in advance!
