Made a Big Mistake and Not sure If I should Continue

Hello Everyone,

So this will be kind of my introduction and my own personal story of whats currently going on with my own experience with IM and I'm hoping someone might be able to offer some advice on how to proceed next.

So I'm practically a newbie to IM and have always been interested in the idea of becoming an entrepreneur, for obvious reasons. Aside from this I've just recently gotten started about a month ago, following Niche Profit Classrooms Business model. Now while this model is great and has really taught me a lot and given me a good foundational knowledge of IM and how it works, at the end of it there was a lot of confusion that I wasn't sure how to properly rectify.

The entire process of creating your own product was a little overwhelming for me in the beginning but I was able to do it with sheer effort and determination. So within approximately 5 weeks I was able to complete an entire website, 32 articles for onsite and offiste placement, an eBook, and a 12 part newsletter course.

The beginning was great and very exciting to actually see my efforts producing results and bringing in traffic; something I've never been able to accomplish before. But then I started to make a few sales. To this day I've totaled in 4 sales earning me about $32.00. OK GREAT! I was able to make money online - I've proven that to myself now.

Then things start to get dark.....

My bounce-rate is high - around 60-70% and 40% on good days. My traffic has not really increased still bringing in about 20 visitors a day. My conversion rates are low. And with 26 active subscribers to my newsletter about 95% of my letters are not being opened by my subscribers - according to AWeber.

Now I'm stressing at this point as I have no idea what to do....or what direction to take. I'm seriously contemplating letting this website go...and it frustrates me even more since I put so much work into it.

So then I came across Mark Lings affilorama and the idea of not having to create your own product and promoting others sounds like a blessing to me after my first initial run. So I bought his course to see how he implements his methods, and while strikingly similar to the last business model that I was working with it really fills in a lot of holes that I wasn't previously understanding.

So I figure with these two business models working hand in hand I can really accomplish something now. But the problem is, is I don't know if I can do all of that work again and get such bad results as I did with my first site. I really have no idea where I wen't wrong or if it's just a bad niche in general.

So I'm sure this isn't the first time someone has made such a big mistake like I have, so if anyone has experienced anything similar and been able to come through it, can you offer any advice? What motivated you to continue even in the face of defeat?

If anyone might also be able to offer a review of my site and fill me in on any problems they notice that would be helpful as well: www(dot)simplehousecleaning(dot)com

I appreciate your time

Well Debra, I don't know much about NPC other than their marketing copy seems to indicate that they have a lot of superfluous tools and techniques - but here is my view.

Just a couple of points on your sales page:
The main font could do to be a couple of points larger, with more paragraph breaks - just to make it easier on the eye.

    How to propery .......sp

Also, this is not quite right:
Your email address is never shared with anyone should be more properly I will never share your email address with anyone

Other than these small issues, you have done a very professional job for your first effort, you should be proud of yourself, not least because you have achieved four good sales already with minimal traffic.

So in my opinion, you have made very few mistakes, you just need more traffic to ramp up your operation. Now shortly, the SEO guys will be all over this thread telling you to optimize for long tail keywords and get loads of backlinks blah blah blah but me - I would just spend the night with Y!A and a large stack of disposable emails.

Whatever you do, good luck, but my guess is that you will not need it.

      Hey aj,

Thx for your reply. I'm not sure what you meant by this? Was this a spelling error that I made somewhere?

I was considering this but wasn't sure it would be worth it.

        Yes, should be 'properly'

Dude, you have made 4 good sales by getting 20 uniques per day. Think what you could do with 200 uniques per day!!

Yahoo Answers. Create plenty of Yahoo accounts and use them to post infomative and helpful answers - all containing your link of course It's instant traffic, and it's a whole lot less painful than the SEO stuff. Once you get traffic going to your site, you can monitor sales and then make an informed decision about whether to launch long term traffic strategies.

    Debra,

Fix your few spelling errors, get someone you know and trust
to go over your copy in detail, and regroup.

    You've established a market, you've proved there's money to
be made, and that you can generate traffic.

So you score 11 out of 10.

Search Google for cleaner forums and cleaner blogs. Post articles,
hints, tips, product reviews, and service advice to these sites, all
with links to your site. Offer free reports or loss leader products
to capture e-mail addresses and names, something you're already
doing but perhaps you need to ramp things up a tad.

Write press releases (or find someone to help you with writing
one if necessary) and send them to local radio, TV and newspaper
    offices.

    Give yourself spin!

Enter the conversation in people's heads. Join your local chapter
of NAPO (National Association of Professional Organizers), partner
with local organizers and clutter busters and do cross promotions:
you promote them, they promote you.

Consider adjusting your copy for SEO and keyword spread. Consider
affiliate links for popular products, direct mail handouts distributed to
local businesses (hardware stores, dry cleaners, salons, supermarkets),
and partnering with cleaning companies in Murrieta.

But don't quit. You've got great, great potential and you're taking action.
All you need are a few shifts in thinking. Read Napoleon Hill and the story
of the miners that stopped three feet from the gold. Three feet!

    Git 'er done!
