If we lived in paradise I would think we could consume all day long and never have to deliver value back to others not living in paradise.

All we would have to do is consume whatever we wanted and all would be well with the world because "that's how it is in that special place".

Do you agree with this belief ? Or, is there no such thing as paradise for us Warriors?

I'm not going with your definition of "living in paradise." The idea that, even while consuming, we are not making a contribution doesn't make sense to me.

    Perhaps you have an example?

this kind of paradise is called prison .

if we don't find an avenue to be productive or express our creativity .. we are doomed to depression..and other kinds of illness and mental illness .

    • Joe,

I am saying paradise is relative like so many other human concepts. Consumption only may be viewed by another as a contribution to them; somehow for them a positive value.

The perpetual consumption part was meant to create a proposition for the reader so they could counter with their own.

Thanks for expressing a thoughtful interest.

My observation comes from a vacation to the Bahamas with a significant other at the time.

We had a great time with no problems. We ate well, slept well, drank well, played well, etc. We also paid well and tipped well. It was a win-win (or at least a benefit-benefit) for everyone.

Thinking back, I can not think of a downside for anybody involved.

The other side of the coin is thinking about how most of the humans on the planet lived prior to the 1500's. Not much consumption, not much production, not much of a life. I think I'll pass if given the option.

A think a nice, healthy balance of consumption and contribution works well for me.

        But that's just me.

The way you define "Paradise" is someplace that doesn't exist, except in our imagination.

Would you really want to live in a way where you take, take, take, and give nothing back? How would you have a sense of self-worth? How would you be valuable? What reason would you have to exist?

What a shallow worthless life that would be. Just my opinion.

What if they're not stars? What if they are holes poked in the top of a container so we can breath?

In the Paradise where you live in infinite abundance, where you have everything you ever need, you would not have any understanding or concept of giving or taking.

When you have everything, you wont have a concept of taking anything because its already yours and you would not have any concepts of giving anything because everyone already has everything.

Also, you would not need self worth, self esteem, self confidence, actually you might not even have the concept of self there.

Maybe we are living in that place already, we just don't know it. So, we are turning it into hell by giving and taking, because we think we don't have anything. Maybe at the moment of our conception, we already inherited the infinite universe with it's endless abundance, maybe we have it all! Haha....

Ahhh, I think I saw that same Twilight Zone episode.

The only people I know that are living in a paradise like that are in mental institutions....or dead.

What an incredibly boring and useless life that would be. No, thank you.

Just more proof that I have no business being in this "Mind Warriors" section.

Let me just say, I understand why you say that. It's more or less the same reason I mostly just read in this section and offer few comments.

However, you do belong here because, well, my amusement would be diminished without your presence.

Besides ... I'm sure you know plantings seeds is as important as reaping the harvest.

        • Joe, Great reply and cool story as well, Storyteller! I also almost can't get over the fact that I just got on line and posted a thread to the Mind Forum about consumption vs. production.

The phrase you chose in your reply (this thread) was "consumption vs contribution". I was amazed at that coincidence. It's like somehow I was tracking with your reply before I even read it. . . . and that I would come back across it at all to answer now is, . . .my goodness.

Thank you for your reply, Joe.

Paradise is a perfect place!!..No problems at all. People who live in paradise are innocent,..they're in this kind of bubble where they are secluded/hide from the real world where all kinds of evil exists.

I do. But even every demigod knows that they've got a part to play (in the life of others) I think for IMers our part (or responsibility) is to make sure that everybody we have the opportunity to serve get more in value of what they bargained for. This and only this I believe is the True Road to Eternal Sucess in our Bankly Paradise
