Making Money is a Mindset

When I get together with friends and family... often times the subject turns to sports because, well, a lot of us are sports fans.

And usually my wife will jump in and say something like "I can't believe Tom Brady makes $15 million dollars a year playing football for the Patriots, that's absurd"

But what she often doesn't think of is that money is nothing more than the transfer of value to others.

I mean, seriously, money itself is worthless. It's paper. It's what the money MEANS that gives it value.

Again, money represents the transfer of value. If I have something you want or need, you give me money and I give you what you value.

Tom Brady makes $15 million a year playing football because he provides value to millions of people.

If his skill wasn't in demand... if millions of people didn't watch football live or on TV, he wouldn't make as much.

So, if you want to make more money... you gotta provide more value to as many people as you can.

It's a scale and leverage issue.

If you mop floors for a living, that's valuable, but only on a small level.

To make a lot of money... you gotta give value in a large, massive way.

That's why athletes, movie stars, musicians... that's why the big names make millions because they provide massive value to millions.

So, if you want to make more money... try to think of ways to add as much value to as many people as you can, and do it on as large a scale as you can.

The internet has made this so much easier... which is why the internet has created more millionaires than just about any other method. It's the ultimate tool for creating value.

Write a book and sell it on Amazon. Get enough sales and you can make a killing. That's providing value.

Offer a workout program, or a remedy for acne, or help with arthritis, or making money, or finding a job, or finding a life partner, etc....

If you can offer someone value and help them get what they want, and then take that on a large enough scale... you can make all the money you want.

But if you're only thinking of making money and you don't think of providing value first... your results will be limited.

That's why, these days when I work with clients or coaching students and we're coming up with their sales funnel.... I try to make sure it's set up to be able to offer value on a massive scale.

When choosing a market, we make sure it's one that can help as many people as possible solve a problem.

With the product, we make sure it's easily delivered to as many people as possible.

with the sales copy... we make sure that the transfer of value is apparent, and that we spell out, in detail, just how we can help that person.

and with customer service, we try to go above and beyond what that person is used to... and offer as much value in customer follow up as we can.

the end result is a customer who feels BETTER about doing business with you.

But again, it all starts with a mindset of helping as many people out as possible.

That's how you make life-changing amounts of money online, or anywhere, really... it's by trying to help out as many people as possible get what they want.

I know Zig Ziglar famously said that "if you help other people get what they want, you'll get what you want" and that's so true, the older I get, the more successful I get, and the more money i make.

It all stems from trying to help out as many people as I can.

These days, when I sit down to write anything... whether it's an email, sales letter, article, etc... i ask myself "is this going to help as many people as possible get what they want"

If it will, I move forward... if not, I don't bother.

It really is a mindset thing you can try to instill in all that you do. Think of helping others first... try to offer as much value on a massive scale... and you really will get more of what you want.

If anyone doubts that, they haven't tried it or done it the right way... because it works and certainly beats trying to jump from gimmick to gimmick!

I have never really looked at it that way, but you are exactly right.

That's all it comes down to. Provide a ton of value and then you can make a ton of money!

that is very good information, you are so right, money is just a tool, it stands for nothing but value.

but instead of trying to provide value in society, most people want the easy way out, just trying to get paper by doing nothing, taking the easy way out, it's incredible that many don't understand that money is all about providing value like you say. good post.

First serve your friends (not customers) wherever their craving needs are then money follows.

i hate to ask this but is your wife trained as a teacher or has worked in schools.

i heard this from teachers all the time it is absurd some guy gets paid so much for hitting a ball when what teachers do is so much more important ..

really .. when the after 13 years k-12 .. the smart kids who made it through school with great grade now have to wrack up huge amounts of debt to gain valuable skills and now even 90 percent of what they learn in college is worthless ..for the world we live in .

because they never learn the basic premise of this threat..the money yiu earn or make is based on the value of your services to those you serve..and the number of options they have for providers of that service .

what schools teach is how to be an interchangeable part..how to be average ..many people who drop out of school are not those who do bad they are bored and the system holds them back where they can excell

Good post Shawn. You are right, it does come down to providing value. I love the Zig quote as well and heard that over 30 years ago at a rally he was speaking at.

Also, Brady will really earn his $15 Million this year without Hernandez and with Welker playing for my Broncos. It should be a great NFL year for us fans :-)
