So everyone here knows that we are in the midst of a revolution, an internet revolution, its possible for anyone to have an internet company nowadays, but still too many people still seeking comfortable 9-5 jobs. college degrees are now worthless, yet they keep teaching like its the 1980s.

Guess we still need plumbers and mechanics and electricians i suppose. Oh yeah and people to pick our food.

But i wonder is it good that most everybody uses the internet for entertainment rather than using it to start a business, letting us make the businesses or would the internet be better if everyone started an online business and got in on the action because it creates more demand?

The internet is a tool, nothing more, nothing less.

True supply and demand comes from people who create products and services that people want to buy.

Now, if being online gives you some ideas of things you can create and sell to people, then you've got a good chance of success.

or if you can use the internet to expand your pre-existing offline business, you'll have more success.

But just setting up a website and pushing Amazon products doesn't make you a savvy entrepreneur.

The addition of more affiliate marketers doesn't add to the supply or the demand. They just add more "nodes" where existing supply can meet existing demand.

If you wanna be successful, the same rules apply in the "new economy" that applied thousands of years ago.

Find out what people want, make it, and sell it to them.

Amen. Well said. The new economy simply makes this process easier where you can use the internet as a tool to research and find out what people want and reach them so that you can sell it to them.

  • I'm not sure more and more people starting businesses on the Internet would increase demand.

I agree we are in the midst of a great information exchange revolution and now that the world has come to discover this resource nothing will ever be the same.

    honestly ,

the internet is a media ..the revolution we are now in ..is one where mopst of our tool of entertainment can also be used to produce something ..the camera in most cellphones is ass good or better than top quality cameras 5-10 years ago .

we are out of the industrial age we are out of the information age ..we are out of the agricultural age .

if you build a greenhouse ..and grow the best tomatoes people can buy ..and use the internet to market let everyone who likes your tomatoes and will pay extra for them know when you have harvested some to sell..

if you are a musician who performs on the street ..but puts videos on your tube and makes money from selling tracks on itunes .

if you are an author and skip the normal old world chain..set up a fan site and write books to pllublis on kindle ..and only sell 1000 of each book you publish but you put out 1 book a month and get 3 dollars each sale .

is the guy who advertises on cable in the tv marketing business .. or the radio marketing ..

8 years from now 80 percent of humanity will have some way to connect to the internet ..and many of the devices they use will have processing power as the human brain ..in fact i believe the next generation processor will be built from what been learned studying the brain ..

most of humanity lives on less than 5 dollars a day and the bottom 90 live on less than 10 dollars a day.

i talk to people who use to make good money building websites orwriting programs .. but can no longer compete against those around the world who can live off making much less.

most people are better off just sticking with using the internet for entertainment ..and most people who use it to make money will be using it toconnect to buyers of the real stuff they make ..and for many people making an extra 400-1000 ..selling stuff they make in the real world and sell on line is a big change

If everyone used the internet to start a businesses and work in IM then their would be even more competition then there is now. Which would not be a good thing. I do find it odd that some people think they're computer experts when really all they have learned is how to be a consumer of other people's content. However, the reality is that these are the people we are most likely trying to get interested in our websites.

We are living in a revolutionary time and Internet is the big equalizer. The information runs freely everywhere. Everybody has access to the same information. It is omnipresent.

However, our duty as a warrior is to create new ways to organize this boat load of information. How? Just making this information organized, chewable and digestible KNOWLEDGE to cater people’s craving needs.

So what kind of knowledge will be needed? Everything. Everybody will need to be educated or reeducated in everything otherwise somebody else will take his/her/your job or business (because somebody will cater your/their customers).

So we must serve to their itching needs first, money will follow.

i definitely agree that we need to organize the information. we have way too much disorganized information out there, and schools are only at the tipping point of this, we need to be guides for the people who consume our products.

and to think, the internet is still in its infancy, but growing very fast. i gotta get my boogie board and ride the wave, 'cause before you know it, it'll be huge.

        good post, very thought provoking

Yes, the internet is big equalizer relative to access to information. However, it is not the big equalizer relative to income and wealth. Today, the gap between rich and poor is larger than ever and getting bigger. The middle class is decreasing at alarming rates. Relative to the new economy, a good question to ask yourself is why access to more information is not translating into higher levels of income and wealth??

What the world wants is the new, fresh, easy, carefree, expanding and better which only comes from the authentic, genuine, honest, creative and unique YOU.

That is the real new economy, which is not new, but is manifesting as the Internet at the moment.

So I think that what really matters is that each person defines the vision they want for their life and that may or may not mean starting a business online.

    sorry but that's B*S*

There are ad always will be much bigger markets in he real world if you dig into it.

eg. Physical Crude oil = $45 BILLION a DAY market.....How does "e-commerce" compare to that?

Shipping, finance, commodities, logistics...much bigger markets.
    Don't be ignorant.

true, e-commerce can be a right arm for many existing businesses and today i can get whatever i want from anyone around the world, that was not possible before.

i can sell ebooks to anyone around the world and it's a new way of doing business.

i think it will rival already established businesses that are huge, the internet is still in its infancy.

we've yet to see how we're going to use it though, many people still look for jobs in the 'old' economy,

so it's going to take a really good idea in order to make a killing and be like mark cuban or elon musk.

it's still the wild wild west of the internet, gotta love it!
