You Become What You Want To Be.

Hi Everyone,

Just sharing some motivation with you.

Nothing was ever in any man that is not in you. I believe that no man or woman ever had more spiritual or mental power than anyone of us can attain, or did greater things than we can accomplish. You can become what you want to be.

We are not barred from attaining greatness by heredity. No matter who or what your ancestors may have been or how unlearned or lowly their station, the upward way is open for all of us. There is no such thing as inheriting a fixed mental position; no matter how small the mental capital we receive from our parents, it can be increased; none of us are born incapable of growth.

We must also learn to use our imagination correctly those mental pictures we create are the difference between success and failure. Lets start or continue to create beauty in our lives today.

Regards
rouse9.

You have rightly stated in your last sentence. While it is in everyone to achieve the highest level of success it is what you have mentally fed yourself year after year that is the defining factor.

If one convinces himself that he can never be a success because of his past or his life's experiences, then he never will, on the other hand if he takes the necessary steps toward a successful life with a mental status that is on the high then of a truth he must reach his goal.

So if we want to be honest, we tell people that the post is just a copy-and-paste from Wallace Wattles' The Science of Being Great - right?

      Hi Mike Mc Bride,
The truth is in a nutshell: I have been born in what most people would call an extremely poor environment. Being of a single parent relationship my two sisters and I watched our mother work her fingernails to the bone for years just to make ends meet and to ensure that there was food on the table at least.

I had to drop out of school without a college education and do odd jobs to assist my mother who spent what ever little time she had teaching us christian principles and instilling in us the importance self improvement and motivation.

As a child I would observe my mother being taken advantage of in many ways, mostly by employers, but was too small to do anything about it. I made up my mind that I was not going to live that way.

Sometimes with envy I would gaze on other families with both parents taking their children shopping, on vacations and all the other caring family stuff and would cry inside when I looked at kind of insults and long hours of work that my mother had to endure just to pay the rent and feed us. Our father was never around and we knew no other.

Having to work at an early age I too was exploited and got the rest of my education on the streets the hard way. My desire was to help my mother, own my own home and have a family, being able to give my children the things I never had as a child. The struggle continued for a number of years and I was employed in a printing establishment as a bookbinder not earning very much my self. My two younger sisters found employment eventually and was holding their own, so my mother did not have to work that hard anymore.

I got married and moved out, six kids came out of that relationship four girls two boys. I even delivered our second daughter at home because medical help was too long in coming. Ironically my wife passed away suddenly when our first born son was just fifteen and the last daughter three years of age, leaving us devastated.

I started to realize that I was not being able to do what I wanted by giving my children and myself the things I desired. I Began to wander and even doubt the stuff I was reading about positive thinking and the science of getting rich, (although I was following the advice to the letter) because of the series of so called negative events which were taking place in my life.

Either by accident or design I met this wonderful lady at a friend's house six months after my wife's passing, who eventually accepted me with six kids. We got married after a short "getting to know each other period" and if by magic my life dramatically turned around.

She assisted me in furthering my education enabling me to get a high paying job in the Telecommunications Industry and I have never looked back since. I may not be a Bill Gates or Donald Trump but I consider myself to be comfortably wealthy still Learning and Growing.

I was able to give my children most of the luxuries that I was never able to enjoy as a child. My source of inspiration over the years came from authors:Lobsang Rampa, Norman Vincent Peale, Dr Venice J Bloodsworth,Wallace D. Wattles.

I always make it a point of duty to have some practical knowledge and working experience about the ideas and philosophies that I support before I mention one word of them and have successfully assisted many close friends and relatives by way of advice and support with personal problems.
My goal is to pass on as much practical information and advice as I possibly can so forgive me if I may sound like any of the authors above, or any where else, this is certainly not my intention because I have a wealth of practical experience and knowledge to share.

I am just what I wanted to be, it took a little time but I am grateful for all my experiences.

Thanks for your comment I really do appreciate it.

      Regards,
      rouse9.

It really depends upon the individual how he or she perceives the path of success. Many have fallen from the stereotypical notions that you can only reach the things in life within a limited IQ, or a limited working or living environment because we succumb to cultures that were never quashed because they keep you from moving forward. The greatest challenge would be to challenge yourself to broaden your horizons and look for solutions. We can become what we can be simply because we believe that we can.

The idea that everyone has the same potential in every area is just crazy.

I guess I'll plan on breaking Michael Phelps' records at the next Olympics.

        Hi,
If one human being has a certain potential that another hasn't, then one of them is not human. What makes the difference in all human achievements, including attaining an Olympic record is to what degree you use the potential you have.

If you are not satisfied with your present achievements you have the potential to change them, if not, who has?

        Thanks for your Reply.

          Hey Rouse

I agree in principle, however within the limitations of our biological, physical and mental dispositions.

In other words if we do NOT have the 'potential' to start with, problem!

You can't make a world class musician form someone like me who is tone deaf!

          Good aspiration nevertheless.

          Regards

            Hi Bobby,

Having biological, physical and mental limitations does not take away or add to your potential or possibility of becoming what you want. I cannot make a world class musician out of YOU no body can but YOU.

There are countless stories of people overcoming insurmountable odds. I am of the view that if you are physically challenged having no legs, it is hardly likely that you may want, or even consider entering a walking race, you may seek to channel your potential in another direction if so inclined.

We all have our so called limitations in one form or another but the potential to be what
you want to be...or change our lives around....is always there, if not, we would become stagnant and worthless in my respectful view.

Thanks for your very interesting post.

            Regards,
            Rouse9.

I dont think anyone is saying everyone has potential in EVERY area, more like everyone has potential in SOME area, and everyone needs to find what that area is for them.

Hmm this is a toughie to discuss.

On the one hand, yes, if you can release yourself from limiting beliefs you should be able to become what you want to be.

On the other, I, for example, simply don't have the DNA to become a superstar tennis player...and I'm past the point of becoming an NHL hockey player...and I can't be an air traffic controller in the US since I'm not a citizen here and have passed the program intake age. So some things are NOT possible past a point.

That being said, of course I could work at becoming the best tennis player, hockey player, amateur ATC that I can be.

And I can decide today that I really want to study 19th Century English Literature...figure out a program and stick with it, and become an authority in that area within a couple of years. Yes. Focused effort can bring fairly quick results.

At the end of the day, though, I like the way the Greeks put it:

    Character determines fate.

I agree that we all have the potential to be great at SOMETHING. The trick is in finding out what it is.

By definition, being successful means we have to stand out from the crowd. Unfortunately, too many of us are so set on "fitting in" that we never venture out and find our niche.
