Business and emotions don't mix well

Looks like I'm back at the Warrior Forum and really loving what I'm seeing from all of you guys Thanks a lot for the support of the years and I'm so proud of myself for how far I've come and how far I've seen others grow.

But I really need to get this out.. because it's messed up my own business practices quite a bit.

When you start to mix together your business and your personal emotions, things don't see to go over well.

In fact.. they could down right be the end of a project. I've had first hand experience with this over the last few years many times and although many of my projects are still doing well, some of them ended up getting the better of me and instead of making me happy they got me down. I became a bit depressed and I definitely shouldn't have because I know a lot of you guys here could potentially have it much worse off than me.

I've had my good days and I've had my bad days, but I'll tell ya right now.. those bad days were always because of my own emotions getting the better of me and causing me to start falling of the horse.

If you want to REALLY hammer, then hammer. If you NEED to do this, then do it. Don't let bullshit get in the way of all that. It's not worth it.

Oh and please don't surround yourself by emotional people.

I know you might want to help everyone.. but you don't have to actually be face to face with them everyday to do it. You can help far more people if you start to push away from the ones that are dragging you down and start really investing your time and resources into what's working for YOU.

Lastly, and the most important...

Don't trust everyone. Just because someone says they'll do something doesn't mean they will. I'm not saying go around thinking that everyones just trying to cheat you... but don't go around thinking everyone is here to help you, because they aren't.

I've had multiple clients pay more than $1,000 for me to complete projects and yet they never complete their end of the bargain sending me over the details I need. And because of this I'm put in a position where they have come back at me 2 years later... seriously... expecting me to complete the project then (even though my policies said otherwise).

It's made me feel down... made me feel bad for them.. and many times I've taken a huge risk on my own business because I'm trying to be nice and either refund their money or complete their project, even though I absolutely don't have any available time to do so...

Business... emotions... They just don't mix..

I think it depends what you mean by “emotions.”

It's pretty hard to explain exactly what type of emotions I'm referring to, but overall I'm talking about allowing yourself to get scared constantly, belief in others, drama, getting too excited, getting too down, allowing yourself to get depressed, becoming way too cocky, etc.

There can be some advantages if you know how to handle them, but it really depends on your experience as well. For example I've made $15,000+ in a matter of days, but I get the same sense of accomplishment (slightly less of course) when I make $1,000 in a few days.

If you get too excited about something you could feel down when you don't achieve that same level of accomplishment.

I'm not saying don't be happy, nervous, stressed, etc. instead I'm trying to point out that letting your emotions get the better of you will almost always result in a spiral downhill.

Last example: Someone wins the lottery they are SUPER excited. Yet next time they win something they won't really be all that excited and end up not really trying as hard at things. It's a big reason most (if not all) winners of the lottery end up going completely broke, committing suicide, or just giving up on life. They feel (and this is my assumption) like they just can't achieve anything greater.

        Yeah I agree.

I think being "overly emotional" (which I think we all do from time to time) can have a negative affect. In that case a certain amount of "detachment" could be a good thing.

It's the same as not bringing your personal problems to work because it will exhaust you and will cloud your judgment.

Most people become too emotionally involved because they are 'desperate' to make the business work and they don't really believe it will. They fear failure, they doubt themselves, they become emotional when they make a sale and when they lose a sale. It's business. Believe that it will work out as you plan, then everything just becomes a problem to solve and move on... Focus on the goal. You will only be emotional in your business if you have 'poor' thoughts.

The title says it all. Business and emotions don't mix. Business does not care how you feel, it does recognize that you are tired or that you need to to thrive in order to pay bills.
If you are unable to seperate your feelings for the business, you will never give it the freedom to grow

there is a reason i put a priority on getting control of my emotional state before i started looking for a business to get into..

when you are acting from a place of fear or panic or stress ..or the opposite fantasy based positive emotions ..you tend to make some very bad choices ..

fear and panic will stop you from starting anything ..fantastical positive thinking has you going to vegas to marry someone you have only known a few hours .

before you make important choices .. get into a settled emotional state .
