How do you warriors focus on a task and your goals?

Hello Warriors,

I was new to internet marketing. Now, I fell into the shiny object syndrome. I didn't go and buy a single product, but kept on jumping from one business model to another and kept reading and reading and did not do anything productive.

Please advise some suggestions and tips.

Thanks,
Peter.

P.S Also, I wasted 4 months reading and reading and now not confident of my niche at all.

I still do that. It's a curse. The good news is that after trying a couple hundred business models I found 3 that work and they work damn well. I still try new things all the time that don't work out but once you have some profitable systems to fall back on it's not as depressing.

Peter when I am coaching I use a goal setting sheet that is (even if I say so myself) totally fantastic. I have clients with big dreams and no way to measure and track and then lose motivation.

So email me carolfinlaysoncoaching@gmail.com and I will happily send it to you

Peter, you are not alone on this problem. All of us at some point become scattered, because there are so many shiny objects out there. Unfortunately as you are probably finding the majority of those objects are just junk. Like when a football team starts having problems, a good coach will take his players to the practice field and teach them the basics of football, blocking and tackling.

The same goes for IM. Stick with the basics. 1) Find a hungry crowd. 2) Find out what they are hungry for. 3) Give it to them.

The other issue why most of us that are just getting started with IM (and I have been getting started for years) is that we do not know who to trust. We can't tell who is really here to help and who is really here to take.

So, do the basics and carefully find someone you can trust to help you learn. My mentor recently has been Chase Watts. Great Luck

Just pick the strategy you like the most and give it a try for a fortnight, see what happens. Learning is nothing without action!

This is a common problem that many of us are still struggling to overcome. I have read an article about focusing on goals and this has helped me greatly. I'm more focused now though I admit that there are still times that I get sidetracked. You can put it this way, when crossing the road, how many chances did you let pass before getting to the other side? There are certainly many shiny things out there but if we don't focus on one, we'll never succeed.

I got through this by making a commitment to one strategy. I have a coach to assist in keeping me on track. I now ask the question, "Is this moving me to my goal?" Has worked for me. It does take discipline to keep focused, but it gets easier the more your practice it.

    • Another point of view occurred to me concerning being able to focus on a task and see your goals achieved: In order to do this with repeatable consistency, you must discover what it is you absolutely love about the project you are pursuing. It is impossible to know what it is until it shows up and you "Know It".

If it isn't any where to be found in your current project or work, it's time to consider digging deep inside and admitting to yourself what it is that truly turns you on, makes your day, tips your hat, makes you smile, lights your eyes, makes you hope, gives you joy, . . . in the doing.

Once you really do that, everything changes. You become lord of your domain. You become the beloved decider. And since you love what you have come to be doing, the money concerns vanish in the intensity of your work. You Rule. Everything gradually comes round right.

Basically the high end level focus on a particular task is meant better to achieve the goal. Strong dedication and focus on the tasks is gonna make us achieve the goal.

    Stop thinking, start doing.

-Make a plan for what you want to do. Make sure it's attainable. Start small so you can reach a goal and get that motivation in your back pocket to do more.
-To get it done, use a calendar and a task tracker to make sure you're actually doing stuff.

There's a really easy formula to figure this out. Are you taking more in than you're putting out? If yes, STOP consuming information and START trying things!
