What Stopped You Getting Started?

It's been said, the reason most people never make
any money on the internet is because they never
get started.

What was your reason for not getting started,
and how did you overcome it?

I would say the defining thing that stopped me was my mind was not open enough to believe in myself, and fortunately I was proven wrong.

the biggest number reason I found is "Affraid to make a mistake", but from those mistakes we can learn how to do it better.

The biggest thing that seem to stop me was fear of failure, and doubt that I would be able to really be successful.

Though I am just getting started, the thing that is helping to keep going is the fact that I believe it is possible to be successful in this business, because others are successful already. Also, with the right type of support group such as this forum, and others in the business who truly want to lend their help are the types of things that help me to press on each day, and each new day is one step closer to reaching my goals.

That was very true for me also. Just not really believing in myself totally. I know I use to lie to myself and act like I wasn't scared. But ultimately it's about keep moving even though you feel that fear, then you see there was never anything to fear in the first place.

But you just can't let fear paralyze you like it does so many people. The term face your fears is one that has really helped me, because it's easy to let the fear stop you from moving forward.

Self Actualization is one's true purpose. Everything
        else is an illusion.

        Doubt.

I overcame my hesitation to start not because I got over doubt, but because I was desperate. I needed to do something different. No job, no one would hire me, no ran out of money to go to interviews anyways...so I used desperation to overcome my lack of action.

Spending too much time "getting ready to get ready". Sometimes you just have to pull the trigger and learn from any mistakes you might make.

There was never a time I didn't get started. 12 years ago, when I was 12, I was already making money selling advertising on my sites and in a newsletter, doing interviews, producing original content and networking on forums. I paid for my own computer and cable internet access as soon as it became available in my area, then paid my own way through college (my parents were very happy about that!). I've launched new websites and products every year since the first I had a computer.

Man that's impressive dude....good on ya I wish I had your mindset at that age.

But definitely your mindset is key, getting rid of the I can't do this and I can't do that but just be positive.

I would say giving up, no matter how many methods you try, just stick to one and put the effot it and you'll reap the rewards.

What do you think of this statement?

Do you think this is part of the problem?

    >>>Someone said most people stop thinking for themselves
the moment they're born. I think the same is true of people
the moment they enter Internet Marketing<<<

What was your reason for not getting started.
    3 words: Fear of failure.
    3 more: Lack of determination.

    How did you overcome it?
    Unfortunately I haven't yet, I'm still trying.

Do you think it's because you don't know
      where to start.

It's not getting started that I have the big problem with, it's the finishing. Though I'm getting better.... 4 or 5 Squidoo lenses that are starting to produce modest affiliate income, a couple blogs, about 5 products now.

I tend to head off in too many different directions, which again... is great for starting, makes it hard to actually get any place.

I would say for me there are three things that have blocked my start. First is lack of money, Second is not knowing where to start, and Third is lack of motivation.
    I will not give up!

Ya don't need a dime to start something on the internet. Even with a comfortable six figure income, I start each new site as if it had to pay for itself, with no upfront spend. I do all the coding, design and marketing to get it started, and only reinvest the profit into advertising.

Yeah I agree, Money is not an issue to start business online...

What most of us lack it the power of initiation. To take initiative and to move from brink to brink is not an easy task. A sense of insecurity of financial out comes is the main hindrance.
