Want To Build Business With Wife

So with the way Google has changed how they rank sites I feel like seo is something I want out of. So I got a normal job only to find myself being threatened by managers daily about if I will have a job or not the next day. I remember how nice it was working for myself and having no one but myself in control of if I made it or not.

Now I am in other peoples hands and I also find myself working long hours for little pay. I don't get to see my wife as much as I wish. She actually wrote me a note telling me she misses me and that she wishes we could find a way to spend time together while supporting ourselves at the same time.

She and I both have been thinking the same thing because I feel the same. I just don't know what I could do to start building a business we could run together. Any ideas? I can't keep up with seo. But any other ideas would be great!

Here is what I suggest in your situation - Yes, start a business ... but KEEP your job for now. Having both of you dependent on the same income source will be more stressful than listening to whining managers. The people who start a business that they live off of will always stay small, because their profits pay their bills. But if you can re-invest your first year's worth of revenue back into marketing the business as you make it, and not have to take one penny of it for yourself, you'll grow at a much better rate.

Case in point, I have an eCommerce client that's doing roughly $60,000 a month in eCommerce sales. Started with nothing. But they took every dollar they made and added it to their marketing budget for the first year, and two years later that's what they're doing. If they hadn't done that, and were pocketing the profits instead, they never would have reached that number. And I have about a dozen stories like that.

Don't walk away from a stable paycheck in the early stages, but do everything you can to get yourself in a position where one day you won't need it.

I agree with ronrule below. Do not pass up financial security until you have a tested way to pay your bills. With that being said, I worked side by side with my wife for years and loved just about every minute of it. I say develop a plan and works towards your goal.
      You can do it!

how big of a step back are you willing to take to work together to go forward .

the thing you have to do is figure out what skill sets you both have that could be put together to generate an income .

also what lifestyle do you both want that will make it rewarding .

so instead of long term goals /..you are looking for a way to spend more time together ..and make money

chances are though you may end up running two businesses that support each other ..in that she has a business she would like to do ..and you use your internet marketing skill to set the marketing up for it .

what would she do if she was in her own business and how could you use your skill to support it

Agree that you should run in parallel and but talk with your wife and she to see what interests she has that you could possibly leverage. Its gotta be something you both are enthusiastic about and just can't be about making money.
