How the heck you rise early in the morning?

I am struggling with this from past so many years. I never believed in the idea of early to bed and early to rise. But, then i did it for couple of days and i felt amazingly well. Now, i can do it in 2,3 days of month.

But, i want to make it my habit.

The issue is one of my old relative sleep in my room. I dont want to disturb her with my alarm. So, i cant even put the alarm. I thought about sleeping in another room. But, my entire life i havnt slept alone.

Even, suppose i get the courage to sleep alone. The hardest thing is getting to bed early. I just cant sleep early. Even if i go to bed at 10 am. I keep staring at walls and dont get asleep till 2a.m in night.
I want to change this habit.

what should i do?

    baby steps ..

learn to sleep alone ..if you don't fall asleep right away .. go in the other room where you can set the alarm ..set it then cover the clock with something so you do not see the time ..
and then just get use to getting out of bed at 6 or 7 am ..

hi - sorry you are not enjoying your time trying to sleep. Trying too hard doesn't work awfully well. I really enjoy this private time to muse on life - sort out the world in my head (tho' I can never remember how when I wake up).

Here is one tip I use when I decide I do want to sleep. I am trying to learn French - it's hard for me - so I just start with the letter "A" and find as many French words as I can with "A" and then go onto "B" etc. I don't often finish the alphabet. When I get better at French I'll just try verbs or nouns. You could try boys' names or countries or food, animals or parts of cars - whatever....

As for getting up - that's easy! Just before I doze off, I think of something really nice I will do soon after waking up. It can be something as simple as a new shower gel, or a different walk with the dog - it must be something that you want to do or experience. I never need an alarm clock as my internal clock can't wait to try the new shower gel! Friends of mine use a vibrating alarm tucked under the blankets, attached to their pyjamas, and say that works well. I believe mobile phones can be set to vibrate.

Anyway - good luck with better resting

I will share with you my secret. I can wake up anytime I want in the morning without an alarm clock. When you go to bed, think of a time you would want to wake up the following day. Keep this up until that time becomes embedded in your brain. Very soon you will be able to do it without waking up your old relative.

Both Lizh7 and joesfortune have great great suggestions. Think of programming your brain to wake you up as an experiment on how you can program your brain for other things. AFter you find your subconscious can be programmed to wake you up at a certain time, you will be able to find other ways that will make your life more productive and prosperous.
