Decisions . . . Just How Important Are They?

I think we can all agree that one of the most powerful ways to shape our lives is the habit of taking action. But taking action requires a series of decisions. Is this the area where you get frozen up?

In spite of the possibility of making a bad decision the typically successful individual presses on and learns from his setbacks. Whether we have a taste for decision making or not, it is abundantly clear the route to success is through not around decision making in general be they bad ones or good.

Like my father-in-law used to say, "Do something; even if it's wrong!"

And learn from your mistakes! That way you can teach others how to avoid them, what you learned from them, and collectively we won't all repeat the same mistake twice. Turn the bad into good by learning from what we've done wrong Marjorie

    follow through ..

successful people follow through on the choices they make .. is something is important to them they have a system to get them to get it done .

how many times have you or somone else read through the newest bestest method on setting and achieving goal.. then actually set goal .. then did the work to achieve them .

you can't get positive long term results with short term changes in behavior..for long term results you need to make permanent changes .

the health benefits of drinking water instead of some flavored soda ..or anything with a bunch of sugar or artificial sweeteners ..just plain filtered water you run into a picture and let sit in the fridge for a day so the water settle and most of the chlorine leaves the water .. a picture that holds the amount of water you should drink in a day .

small changes that fit together for big results

I personally find it easy to take action when my WHY and purpose is strong enough for why I want to achieve my goal

Decisions have power. A true decision, made with conviction, resets filters in your brain that make following through with the decision far easier.

I agree that the wrong decision is just a stepping stone to the right one but there are ways to know, for sure, if you are moving in the right direction and so I do not encourage willy-nily decisions.

Sometimes, something many struggle with, is that two choices are so equal (even when very different) that it really does not matter. The important aspect at that point is to make a decision and not second-guess it. Align with the decision and move forward.

I love quotes and this is one of my favorites:

    Until one is committed
There is hesitancy, the chance to draw back
    Always ineffectiveness.

Concerning all acts of initiative (and Creation)
    There is one elementary truth
The ignorance which kills countless ideas and splendid plans:

That the moment that one definitely commits ones self
    Then Providence moves too.

All sorts of things occur to help one
That would never otherwise have occurred.

A whole stream of events issues from the decision
Raising in one’s favor all manner
    Of unforeseen incidents and meetings
    And material substance
Which no one could have dreamt
    Would have come your way.

Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.

    GOETHE
I love this quote because it represents so eloquently the power of a decision.

When making your decisions, put yourself first. It's important that you're better off as a result of making the decision.

In order to take responsibility for your own decision making, it's useful to have a decision making process that works for you and to know something about your own values and principles

Give yourself permission to change your mind.

You need to take a decision before you can take an action. That in itself should tell you how important decision making is.

Making a decision is one of the criteria that defines something which is actually alive or not. Even the most primitive bacteria swimming in the primordial soup made the decision to move towards sustenance and away from stressors like toxins.

Someone (Greek?) once said "All men are alive but only some truly live".
If you make no decisions you are effectively just a storage container for you genes on the run down to entropy.

Nothing was ever made without making a decision.

    Hi,

Choose, choose, choose. Get clear on your intent. Improve your decision-making ability over time by moving into action now.

Go after your dreams and your dreams will decide to chase you.

    Does that sound fun?

    I think so

Decide, clarify your intent, decide, clarify your intent.

Keep on deciding and clarifying to live your dreams.

    Thanks for sharing!

Good post. I think indecision is often worse then making a wrong decision. As long as you think things through, and trust your instincts, you may as well just make a decision.

Entrepreneurs are a perfect example of people who make decisions everyday knowing if they make a wrong decision they can always correct it and keep moving forward in their business. With experience they end up making more right decisions then wrong ones anyway.

"Most people will loose more to indecision than they will to a bad decision."

Decisions are very important and we have to make them. Some decisions will make us feel like burying our heads in the sand.

The best way to make a decision is by using your gut / feeling instead of logic.

The right brain is the best side to be on. But it defies logic
