Hi nelson Mandela has passed he was a great man and a great inspiration to all of us. He went to prison for all these years & when he left he showed forgiveness and compassion for all those people that imprisoned him.

If we all had a ounce of what we had who knows how great we will be.

Also this film depicts his life is a another great memory of Nelson Mandela

The same Mandela who orchestrated many murders of his own people? And not to mention, that was the reason he served his prison sentence. Never mind.

I'm speaking from a place of facts. I don't get caught up in how the media portrays people. Instead, I do my own due diligence to find out what a person was really about instead of getting emotional.

But remember the best thing about Mandela was his ability to forgive all his oppressors that put him in prison. The fact he was able to forgive is a great quality. How many of you do you think you will be able to forgive and move on after 27 years in prison

    Hi,

One of the great men in history. Anyone who gives up their lives for others, and spends almost 3 decades in prison for changing a nation, and world, is a legend, and will always be a challenge.

Most fold like a house of cards when criticized. He spent nearly 3 decades in prison because he tried to do what was right. Amazing!

I agree, he was one of the great leaders of my lifetime.

But one thing history shows us is that when a great leader dies their cause moves forward.

If you look at the history of ML King, he was actually beginning to fade from the public eye at the time of his death and as difficult as it is to imagine from our perspective, the "I have a Dream" speech was fading from the public consciousness. It was revived because of his death and lives on today. I lived during those times. We're not all the way there yet, but we are so much further today than we were then and progress continues.

Ghandi's cause also moved forward following his death.

The same will be true of Mandela. We never really loose the legacy of the great ones. The momentum of a just and noble cause continues forever.

I have a dear friend who was an 11 year old girl when Apartheid came to South Africa. Her family was uprooted and moved out of the village where they had lived for generations. She came under scrutiny and eventually walked out of South Africa. She eventually attained asylum in the UK. She wrote a book about her experience and I can tell you she has forgiven the things that befell her and her family. She is an amazing testament to how good we can be. She harbors no ill will toward others and trusts others to be good to her. I am still amazed at what a wonderful person she is knowing the hardships she endured during her youth and continuing for many years as she was unable to see her family for 24 years. I don't know if I can name her book here so I won't.

He was a great man. I am NOT in mourning because I don't think it is what he would have wanted. Mr.Mandela was not perfect. No one is. But he showed us that what Christ has taught can be done. And that my friends takes more courage than picking up an AK-47 and going on a rampage. God bless you sir. Rest easy. You've earned it.

“Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice. Like Slavery and Apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings. Sometimes it falls on a generation to be great. YOU can be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom.” - Neslon Mandela

May we all let our greatness blossom!

As with all great men there will be people who love him, hate him and all the variants in between.

I have this point of view ...

Look at all the good that has come of this life on earth and try to replicate it

    AND

Ignore all of the bad. No on is perfect!

    RIP Madiba
