Questions about HTML, CSS.. CPA/PPC or anything else.. recommendation of marketing beginner books

Greetings folk,

I'm reading through CPA, PPC and the whole Affiliate World since a year. But before I describe my problems, I wanted to introduce myself.

I am 24 years old and live in Germany. In September I've started my job training in Software Development. Programming, was always a part of me. After some research and questioning my teachers, my focus is on Web Design, Applications and Marketing, for good.

I'd like to learn a lot more than I'm getting thought at school. So my questions are relative simple.
  1. I'm a student and don't have that great starter money for affiliate or big marketing campaigns. But my effort and will is strong, so should I consider starting a CPA site or just learn by theory?
  2. I know it aren't a mistake to know this but, how often are you guys using: HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, Flash, and so on? And what would you consider as a "must-have" as online marketer?
  3. Last but not least. Finding a good CPA book isn't that hard here. But finding a good marketing book for beginners is. Something what covers from offline marketing to SEO, SMO to price development (trend?)?
I've read Rags2Riches what is a good book, but I like to see what others write and see the market.

Thank you for reading.
Greetings,

Ima Brawnie!

In my experience learning HTML/CSS is a huge asset. I am assuming that you already know a lot of it if you're interested in web design. I have without exception, had to use basic HTML skills in every position I have held. I couldn't escape it if I tried. It will also save you a huge bundle of money even if you outsource a lot of your webdesign. It can get quite expensive hiring other people to make minor updates on your websites. I will also add that even though I don't know PHP I have had to learn enough of it to edit basic PHP websites just out of sheer necessity. I would say that anybody who knows PHP through and through should be able to make a career out of that alone. There's also a huge need for people with basic Javascript skills these days too.

If you know HTML/CSS, PHP, and Javascript you are valuable.

Start only one site with one business model, pick 2-3 traffic methods and focus only on then until you will be profitable.
The biggest problem of most new IM marketers id not focusing in one website/business model, so don't be like others :-)

Second, I would highly recommended to learn basic HTML and CSS. You have online so many tutorials, so you can learn it in your spare time.

This is a great (mostly free) training-

    Hi imabrawnie.
First of all congratulations on asking your question. That is the way to learn.

When I first looked at learning HTML I was overcome by the sheer magnitude of all the elements and complications involved in the coding.

The way I handled that was to actually focus on on the HTML for the actual project I was working on and I then studied the elements of HTML that I had used.

And then later on as I needed to know something else I spent some time studying that. And bit by bit I became quite knowledgeable about the HTML that related to the aspects I was using.

Withe regards CPA, PPC and other aspects of the Affiliate World, as Lady D suggests, just select and focus upon 2 or 3 methods until you are getting success with those, rather than going from one to the other.

I wish you the best of luck with everything ....
