I guess someone must think it works, because there's two other threads on "Mind Warriors" front.

Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

I used to practice it, and I have found that the main principle behind it (the object of your thoughts will be drawn closer to you) doesn't work. Your thoughts most likely do not have effects outside of your body, they remain in your mind.

However, the 'think positively' aspect of it can work for you, and can give you increased confidence, and new ideas to accomplish tasks. This is one of the few reasons why it is beneficial to focus your thoughts upon what you want.

I'm not sure you can create success without it.

To me (and everyone I've ever discussed it with) the "Law" of attraction is about keeping what you want uppermost in your thoughts and moving yourself in that direction and taking every opportunity made available to you to make it come true.

I completely agree with that. The law of attraction has most definitely worked for me

It is definitely about having a positive focus towards a goal, be that big or small.
Staying positive isn't always easy but visualization and positive mental training has been a god sent for me.

Yeah, I'm a strong, strong believer of the law of attraction and I'd advise all fellow warriors to believe in it too. I'm not saying you MUST believe in it but to me the law of attraction helps immensely! Also, when you believe, you feel a sense of positivity, it's like a surge of dopamine rushing into your system, simple put... it's amazing!

But what if your father is the prime minister of Nigeria and the army decides to make a coup.

  • There are many many examples of the law of attraction at work all around us. Like attracts like and of course opposites attract as well. Everything is possible. Anything can happen in our remarkable human experiences.

I personally have the law of attraction working constantly in my life. Although I cannot say this or that will appear or happen at a given time, I can say that very coincidental manifestations occur which cause life to be lived comfortably and securely. One cannot ask for much more proof that that in my case.

    It's really not a secret.

Goal setting, visioning, finding your purpose, positive thinking, mindfulness, "Do unto others as you ...', power of forgiveness. It's all variations of the "Law of Attraction"

It's all about what makes sense to you - Jesus, Buddha, Deepack, Tolle, Bono ...

As far as I can tell they are all saying the same thing.

    IMHO

In answer to your question - I would say yes, the law of attraction is valid - but it is only half of the issue.

Yes, you want to visualize what you want... but then you need to take inspired action to get there.

By inspired, I mean something that is leading in the direction you want to go with your visualization.

If you are visualizing yourself losing 20 pounds in 90 days, you don't want to go out and stuff yourself on pizzas 5 days a week and sit all day watching TV.

Inspired would be something that aims you toward your goal.

You can definitely make it happen

Agreed. I practice it and - religious views aside - I think it's really just natural. Be positive and you will bring positive things to you. Stay focused on a goal and act as if it is reality, you then create that reality for yourself. It's no secret, it's the way life works. It's just unfortunate that I had to learn this universal constant through cause and effect rather than listening to it when I was told "do unto others" as a child. So much time wasted complaining and not creating. Oops I think I'm doing it again... Lol

Keeping goals in mind helps me continue to choose actions that support them, so I 'attract' them with my actions...eventually.

But LOA is not simply wishing hard to have something...and 'poof' you get it! It's not a 'big easy' button.

I hear that a lot. That people who watch and "believe" in the law of attraction think that all you have to do is think about something and it will manifest itself magically with a puff of smoke. But you know, I've spoken to a lot of people about this and I've never come across anyone who thought like that. That the LOA was some form of magic button.

I'd say that without exception everyone gets what they're trying to communicate in that which is a lot of us have said in this forum many times. We all get it. It's about focusing on what you want and making choices and taking action. We get it. Everyone gets it. It was a very entertaining way to make a point.

Hm looks like the LOA has its limits after all....

So it cannot save you against military coups.
