The First Rule of happiness

Interest and memory are twins.it is easy to remember the things in which we are interested.the first rule of happiness is "Be Interested" when you are interested you will have a good memory.when you have a good memory it is easy to work with your sub-conscious mind.remember the whole secret of a happy and successful life lies in two words "Be Interested",its the first rule of happiness.

      You can definitely find a few here;

      Some key points I picked up from Randy Pausch's lecture;

      - Know that you can't control the cards you're dealt, just how you play the hands

      - Persue your childhood dreams

      - Have a sense of Fun and Wonder all the time

      - Your children would be your greatest source of joy

      - Giving back is another great source of satisfaction

      - Never underestimate the importance of having fun

      - when u screw up make a good apology "I'm sorry, it was my mistake, How do I make it Right?"

      - Show gratitude whenever you can

      - Don't complain, just work harder

      - If you live your life the right way, your Dreams will come to you..

      Here's the full lecture

    I'm not sure I agree with your definition of true happiness. I might have missed your meaning. I don't really see how being interested in something can create true happiness.

    Happiness definitely comes from within. My belief is that if we can accept who we are and be at peace with that person, we can find true happiness. Being happy and being successful aren't necessarily in correlation with each other. I can be happy without being successful and successful people aren't always happy.

    Yet if I'm successful and then lose it all for whatever reason and can still accept myself and be at peace within, then that is true happiness - not letting the outside environment determine my internal state of mind.

    happiness is a decision. You first have to decide to be happy.

    there is plenty in life to be happy about if you look for it.

    there is plenty of life to be unhappy about if you look for it.

    Whether you think you can or think you can't, you are right.

    Another important rule most people forget: CHOOSE to be happy NOW with what you have and where you are. People lie to themselves that they'll be happy once they accomplish the big things in life, but honestly you can be happy right now. In a paradoxical way, when you choose to be happy in the present, you start reaching your goals faster than ever...

  • Cute, small, attractive and very powerful insight into human nature. I agree. We always express our best toward that with which we express a personal interest. Sharper memory or side door entrance to the sub conscious are bonuses in this case.
