I love being free.

This Monday I am hopping a jet from New York City to Bangkok, Thailand. I will fly to Chiang Mai....hang there for a few months....then travel throughout Thailand.

Yeah that is me below on Nai Harn Beach in Phuket, Thailand. My favorite beach in the world.

We might hit Bali and a few other SE Asia spots. Then maybe a trip back to the US....or not .....before our 4 month stay in Fiji. Where we are living in a house on the beach. Crazy!

I love being free. I worked like an animal to be free, to travel the world, but every second, even during my lean years, was worth it.

What drives you? How strong is this emotion?

Please share all!

Being wealthy is nice. Something I've always wanted to accomplish.

However, I'm mostly driven by the sincere desire to liberate people. (By providing them with information.) And, to help my Family with their financial situations.

Usually my brother as I can't drive. :p

In all seriousness though it's probably the fact that I hate the typical 9-5 grind and, as an introvert, prefer to avoid people for the most part.

        Cool thread topic.

I feel I have two main forces motivating me. The interesting thing is that they seem to operate in a pull/push fashion (or carrot/stick fashion):
-the desire to be free (pull)
-the fear of having to work a J-O-B (push)

I've been interested in the topic of motivation recently, as I've found mine to have weakened a bit in late 2013. I'm not quite sure why this is, but I have a theory that it may be environment. When I lived in Shanghai, I was up early most mornings and on a subway to the library or a coffee shop to crank 8+ hours on my online endeavors. However, I now live in Qatar, and the culture here isn't quite the "go! go! go!" of Shanghai (in fact it is the exact opposite: "chill. chill. chillllll. Let's have another coffee.")

I want to change my environment soon to avoid falling into a life pattern that is difficult to break.

Anyone else living in an environment not conducive to hard wok?

The greatest joy for a man is to defeat his enemies, to drive them before him, to take from them all they possess, to see those they love in tears, to ride their horses, and to hold their wives and daughters in his arms.

The feeling of loving what i do is what drives me. To me it is not necessary being free that drives me but running a business.....there is such a joy into running your own business that it almost always brings me to tears. It doesn't matter if it is profitable or not because in every business there is sweat, hard work and you have to put commitment to it but i just love it. Its something i would do for free every single day.

Heck, the only reason i want to be rich is so i can work....but work with what interest me.

broken down to its very essence, it is pursuit of pleasure and/or avoidance of pain. In marketing, I think the avoidance of pain is very motivating for people to take action and marketers often overlook this side.

Congratulations for having achieved what most of us just dream of. But how did you do it? Working hard is too over-used to mean anything.
